Short of winning the lottery, there's no way I can take a vacation this summer. But if I could? I would SO be there.

Heck, at $12 a ticket, I could barely afford to see it if it was around the corner.

I still don't have word from HR as to what's happening with my job. I'm supposed to find out tomorrow. Major thanks to everyone who's offered prayers and support!

My muffler started dragging as I left the library yesterday to go to work---had to get an emergency fix on that---third time I've had that done! That's the trouble with having an ancient car, it's always something.

The Fluevogs have arrived! The image online looked more grey than black, but they are black, and lovely, and beautifully package with pretty aqua tissue paper in the box with a dustbag and a personalized card signed by John Fluevog himself (which I've already framed). *sigh* If they were pretty in the picture, they're even prettier in person.

My time on the computer is about to run out, but hopefully I can get the cable people paid on Friday and have it back on in the next 48 hours or so.

I know it's only been about 48 hours, but I sure have missed you all.

A quick recap:

Saturday: Numerous people who should've been slapped for time-wasting indecisiveness. On the other hand, I sold a $1300* Posh Brits bag to a woman who said she had two others and they're SO much better quality than Prada, don't you know? I've never seen a Prada bag in the flesh (or leather, as the case may be) but PB *does* make an excellent product, and I complimented her on her fine taste and discernment---and got her credit card info. I hope my sales help get me out of the doghouse that my talk time has gotten me into....

Sunday: Slept quite soundly in my own happy bed in arctic comfort. Church, as usual. Sadly, we ran out of time, because our speaker had some fascinating things to say about dreams. Afterward, I zipped over to Kat's to make lunch plans and check my mail. Visited for a bit and got fish and chips on the way home.

Enjoyed my dinner with Season One of Leverage...that's what I spent most of the evening doing, lounging in the a/c and enjoying episodes I missed the first time. Having caught the American Life rebroadcasts of the old Mission: Impossible series, I realize that that's what Leverage reminds me of. The weekly caper! I always adored M:I, and this is a 21st centure update of the concept. No banana republic dictators overthrown yet, but bringing justice to the "untouchable" bad guys is still the same.

The contrasts are fascinating, though---Leverage has more of a sense of humor than M:I ever did. Phelps had no personal life that we ever saw, much less a past or, heaven forbid, vices. Hardison is as much a genius as Barney, but I can't imagine Barney staying up all night playing World of Warcraft or acting as a DJ. I'll grant Sophie has an equal amount of class as Cinnamon, but no way did Cinnamon tart it up as much as Sophie. And Parker...I like merrily crazy Parker ever so much more than Dana/Lesley Ann Warren. And while Peter Lupus was quite the hottie in that Playgirl centerfold, I'll take Elliot over Willy ANY day. *fans self*

Today: Met Kat for lunch, got her key and came over to catch up on things while she took care of some bidness. And here we are.

In squeeful news, the Fluevogs are scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday, and as I told [livejournal.com profile] sbjb, I'm off Wednesday, so that's perfect. I will camp out by the front door so I can swoop out to scribble my Joan Hancock and snatch my precious Fluevogs from the custody of those indifferent incompetants who have no clue how vital their cargo is.

More as access permits. Please comment, it makes me feel loved....

Sing hosannas and shout her praises to the stars! [livejournal.com profile] sbjb has got me Fluevogs!

I got back to the C's to discover an email titled, "Posting on LiveJournal can be lucrative". Opening it, I found a confirmation for one pair of Friends: Ruby, size 11.5, color black. In short, THESE:

I was momentarily alarmed by the thought that I might be here and miss their delivery, until I read the email more closely and found that they'll ship from a store and it can take up to two weeks. (They ship from stores? How bizarre, says my etail-trained mind where everything comes from "The Warehouse".) But at least I don't have to worry about missing it, and that'll be one time when I'll be perfectly happy to answer the door at whatever ungodly hour they arrive at. (To be followed by Fluffy dancing around the living room. Yay!)

This afternoon's peregrinations covered Hancock Fabrick, where I found some black sequinned rick-rack that'll look just gorgeous at the bottom of my bodice. (For a whole $3, because it was on 60% off clearance.) Ross, in the same plaza, was less successful. Found a red and black dress I'd've 86'ed the black and silver one for in a heartbeat, but alas, it was 3 sizes too small. Damn shame. Saw a couple things I liked, but nothing I *loved*---and I kept thinking of them in terms of "That and $20 would get you some Fluevogs...". Spent $7 on a boatneck blue blouse in a tie-dyed print. It looked good on and will go nicely with jeans.

By the time I got out of Ross, I was fading. I hadn't had much in the way of brunch, because I kept thinking I'd hear back from Kat, so I grabbed a quick bite from Long John Silvers and headed over to Fashion Bug. Their big deal was "buy one clearance item, get the second clearance item item for $5"---but their plus clearance was disappointing. The one dress and jacket combo I fancied would've run about $40...Hmm. Gonna hafta sleep on it.
