I just got back from that walk on the beach I've been promising myself. Walked for an hour and a half, which is not as impressive as it sounds---spent time picking up shells and trash, checking out the hot guys windsurfing, and staring out to sea for long minutes at a time. Still, it counts as Time Not Spent Sitting On My Ass, so go, me!

There was a brisk wind, but the sky was sunny and fairly clear. Barely 80F, so the sand was warm, but not enough to blister. No pelicans today, just a couple gulls, a cluster of sandpipers, and an I'm-not-sure-what---something with a chunky white body, but a long yellow-grey beak, long white neck and long yellow legs. It seemed to respond to my shell-picking as some kind of "fishing" behavior, and it stayed quite close to me for a while, as if I might lead it to a rich feeding ground.

Noticed something: my footprints leave a distinctive trail---my feet go off at 45-degree angles to each other. I walk like a duck, apparently. Maybe that's what Mystery Bird was attracted to!

The dogs were quite interested in sniffing my ankles when I came in. My skin tastes of salt and my hair is stiff with it. I'm going to go take a shower now. Maybe I'll have some fish for supper....

=====

Post shower: It looks like a got a teeny bit of sun. Not enough to blister; just a bit of pink. Theoretically, I know it's bad for me, but it feels good, y'know?
