The other day, Publix had some energy drinks on sale, brand name "Power Trip"---I don't usually do energy drinks, but given the week I was having, I snagged a couple just in case. Didn't get around to trying them then, thanks to a/c at J's to help keep me perky.

Today, though, I could take a siesta with very little encouragement. Except that would undo the good work of the last week, resetting my sleep schedule. So to counter the 4PM fade, I cracked one of them. It's Mmmango flavored and has definitely cut through the worst of the cobwebs. Good shit, must get more.

The week with J was a challenge. The big things, like getting up and going back and forth, were a stretch, but it was the other stuff that made me glad the week is over: the less-than-comfortable chair I was in, her choice of background noise, the difference between her definition of a tantrum and mine (Seriously, I barely cranked it to 'rant', let alone full-on tantrum.) and the fact that me being on the computer with a movie playing on TV is apparently NOT done in her presence.

Usually the TV is on in another room---I consider myself very lucky when they're both in the same place at the same time. But then, I've also routinely crafted during prime-time for ages. Apparently, though, less-than-total concentration on the movie sets J off. Who knew?

Got somewhat caught up on Harry Potter: I hadn't seen "Order of the Phoenix" or "The Half-Blood Prince"...funny, considering in the early days, I saw the first couple films on Opening Day (at the midnight show). Meh. I tend to be annoyed by gaps---I know they have to leave bits out, but what's left sometimes seems rather fragmentary.

Oh why did Ahab have to turn into such an asshat? Right now, I'd *love* to be able to float in his pool til sundown.

I borrowed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows from a gal at church, and spent a sizable chunk of the afternoon and evening feasting on it. I'm quite pleased that I was mostly right about my guesses. I was wrong on one point---they didn't have to break into Azkaban for the first Horcrux---and there was one thing I expected that didn't happen: I was quite certain that Harry would learn to be an Animagus---but other than that---!

Yes, [livejournal.com profile] kukkurkurat, I can see how your diabolical leanings could be inventively stimulated, under the circumstances. Lots of hurt-comfort potential!

The epilogue screws up my Draco/Neville 'verse, not that it was even canon to begin with. (Oh, well, it's already AU.)

I've also been hammering away on our crossover. Got a few scribbled pages done yesterday at work---which translates to paragraphs on the screen---but I've got the next few scenes in mind. How to weave the canon plot-points together has me nonplused. (It's AU! Yeah, that'll work....)

Tomorrow I definitely need to cook up something from the freezer so I'll have meals for work this week. Hmm, off to take inventory....

I was just reading an article about the forthcoming Harry Potter finale, and ran into this quote about fans who are upset about being spoiled: "That's some wrath right there. We own pitchforks, hot wax and feathers. And we're not afraid to use them." Tell me the image of a feathered bikini wax didn't just pop into your head. (It didn't? Sorry about that...but you know what they say: kinky is using a feather, perverted is using the whole chicken.)

Anyway, until I've actually read the words on the page, it's Rumor vs. Rowling. I personally predicted who they were going to kill off in The Half-Blood Prince way the hell back during the summer I spent reading the first three books aloud to H.W.S.N.B.N.---just because it would raise the stakes for Harry and his cohorts.

With that in mind, I'm going to make a couple of predictions about this book. I have no connection whatsoever with Ms Rowling, her publishers, agents or cleaning lady, this is only my own writerly guessing.

1) Harry is going to become an Animagus, and his animal form will be a lion. After all, his dad learned that at an even younger age. (My reasons for thinking a lion are 1, his strong ties to Gryffindor, and 2, he's a Leo.)

2) Harry and company are going to have to break into Azkaban to liberate Mundungus because he pinched one of the Horcruxes or a clue to them from the Black house/Order of the Phoenix HQ.

3) It will be revealed that Snape was bound to Dumbledore with an Unbreakable Vow prior to his Vow with Narcissa Malfoy, something to the effect that he would do whatever was necessary to get into the Inner Circle of the Death Eaters. Mind you, I think he's going to die horribly at the penultimate moment, but it will in some way enable Voldemort to be killed.

These aren't spoilers; I honestly have no idea if this is what she's got in store for us. But if by chance I happen to be right, I'll send in a resume to be a substitute teacher for Divination. (Why not? I even have my own cloak!)
