My official Long Weekend has begun. I have 3 consecutive days off in a row, approved by the Powers That Be, and I've kicked them off with some rum. I bought the bottle several weeks ago (like last month!), and I just now cracked it. I'd like to report that Captain Morgan's blends divinely with Lipton's Green Apple Tea. (Which has also been sitting around for a while, since I thought when I bought it that it was diet, but it isn't. Fuck it, it makes a helluva mixer.)

I found out that I have to be AT WORK at 9 AM on Thursday for Trendicrap training. This is not optional, cannot be shifted, finagled or moved around. The ONLY good thing about that is that I get out at 5:30, meaning that I ought to be home in time for SPN without having to set a timer or any of the usual exingencies.

Today was bedlam, chaos and 57 varieties of Hell. It waited until I got to work to start raining, but something got zapped in our vicinity---our lights went on and off, and Walgreens, which is in the same plaza, went offline completely, so that they could only take cash or checks, and apparently NONE of the 20-somethings there knew how to figure anything without the register---hello? Calculators on Aisle 7?!---so I ended up *not* getting a snack on my lunch break.

I set a personal best record for number of orders taken in one shift---15---and held onto my temper, which was riding the ragged edge of Fuck You Very Much, Brand X jeans. Usually those callers are mellow, but tonight, it seemed like EVERYONE has an attitude or an IQ lower than their body temperature.

I was in the ladies' loo doing what one usually does in such a mileau on my second break, when the lights went out again (for no apparent reason---it wasn't raining!), stayed out for five minutes, then came back on for the duration. The lights in the parking lot were still out when I got off 90 minutes later. WTF?

On the way home, my car's odometer rolled over to 240K miles---meep! That makes me nervous, although Honda lovers tell me that's just getting broken in. To celebrate, I topped up the brake fluid---remind me when I'm sober that I need to buy another can of brake fluid and those taillights I've been twitching about (lest I be pulled over again...I've been procrastinating about THAT for a couple weeks, too).

So, yeah, it was an interesting day. And it's REALLY weird for it to feel like Friday and actually be my Friday in terms of the weekend beginning. And the rum has definitely kicked in! Cheers, y'all....
