Had a very blonde incident today...Mb invited me to a car show in Kissimmee this evening, and I texted J to let her know that I wouldn't be over for cards...at least, I intended to. Somehow, I sent it to GK (They're the only people I text regularly), which I didn't realize until much later. Ooops. I let J know what happened, and she forgave me. No word back from GK, who's probably still wondering what I was babbling about.

The leg itch is still itching, despite me dosing it with the anti-itch cream which I *did* find. And I'm loath to apply Nair, although my shanks are getting shaggy. Which is a shame; while I was wandering around trying to decide what to wear to Old Town, I found a dress I misplaced a while ago...and it's finally cooled down enough that I can wear it. We'll see....

On the way out, I grabbed my mail. Electric bill: ARRGH! DO. NOT. WANT. Due 10/3, so at least I have time to figure something out. (Anybody need a kidney?) In much happier news, my renewed driver's license arrived, complete with the horrible pic they have from 75 pounds ago that makes me look like I should be slaughtering hogs in Iowa. I'm willing to forgive that, though, because the sucker doesn't expire until 2020---woohoo!!!

The next time Mb and I do the car show thing---and we will, because it's a weekly event at a smallish theme park called "Old Town"---we'll find a sitter for Jazz the Wonder Akita, who had trouble with all the noise, and we'll get there earlier. It was fun, though! I fell in love with quite a few vehicles, sigh!

And now off to bed; church tomorrow, and I don't want to miss the speaker.

The roadtrip with Mb has been changed to Monday-Tuesday, which actually works better for both of us. This way, I don't miss movie night at church tomorrow and I have all day Saturday to take care of my potluck obligations, and Mb won't have to make a special trip back and forth to get her monthly food box delivery. And she's going to pick me up early Monday and we're going to hit the food bank together. Tra-la!

I heard from Mb a little while ago. She and her SO are going house-sitting in Melbourne over the weekend and have invited me to join them.

There is a pool.

I said YES.

Mind you, I did specify a need to be back for church on Sunday, and that I have to have a dish ready to bring for potluck.

But otherwise? I haven't been swimming since last October and the thought of spending a few hours floating in a lovely private in-ground pool is fabulous. I know exactly where my swimsuit is...I just hope it still fits, as I'm currently about 10 pounds heavier than I was when I got it. To be on the safe side, I may just run my OLD suit through the wash and bring it so I'll have some wiggle room.

Although if it's as private as she says, I'm liable to wind up not-so-skinny-dipping.

Note to self, DON'T FORGET TO PACK SUNSCREEN!

Yay, shirt is here! And fits. And goes well with leggings. Giving me something to wear as pajamas on the great roadtrip which commences in just a few hours. Woohoo!

I am pep-talking myself that this is going to be fun, fun, fun!---because I have my share of apprehensions and neuroses*. I hate long car trips, especially when I'm not driving. I don't like sharing a room---much less a bed! And then there's the Special Hell of spinster anxiety that weddings provoke, even those of loved ones...and there was a time when I had strong unrequited feelings for Dr Bizarre. (Okay, so that's almost two decades ago and it's waned. It's still another case of me being rejected and the guy marrying someone else. Even if it's a guy I don't want anymore. He's supposed to pine for me, damn it! Look, I SAID it was neurotic, I didn't say it was sensible.) Fun, damn it! Shopping! Swimming! Seeing my old friend marry the mother of his children.

Okay...I need breakfast and I need to finish working on the dress. Yes, I'm still sewing the fucking trim on. And it's puckering. *headdesk* WHY did I think this was a good idea? Remind me? (Yes, I have packed the bustier to wear under it.) At least I'll be well-accessorized. I have a silver clutch, pretty shoes, and a terrific necklace that I made myself.

Yes, I will get pictures.

* ETA: No email for 72 hours is freaking me out! (Hell, more than 12 hours without email and I'm a wreck!)

At this time tomorrow, I'll be in Tampa at the concert---Depeche Mode! Yay! (I have no idea who's opening for them, and am not really worried about it---it's a gift, it's all good. [livejournal.com profile] missybrat says they'll pick me up around 10AM, so we can hopefully avoid any afternoon showers on the way over, check into the hotel, catch a swim, and don our finery.

I'm still trying to decide what to wear---it's been so long since I've been to a concert, AND it's an outdoor concert---although even with the humidity it'll be more open and therefore probably cooler than an arena. I'm thinking mostly natural fibers. I have a one-size tribal shirt-dress I got from AI and some brown leggings---I can cinch the shirt-dress with one of my new belts and have a style that stands out from the typical concert-tee and jeans look without being too...Establishment. (Boring, square, straight, yawnsome, frumpy....)

The party is Saturday, 4PM, so if we're up and at 'em at a decent hour (which I am not worried about, since Mb is the earliest early bird I know) we ought to be back in plenty of time to shower and change into our splendor---since the theme is "I Feel Pretty". I have that ensemble already prepared and hanging up in wait for my return.

Must go check laundry---!
