The writing group/book club consisted of four of us. Theoretically we're going to meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month, first Tuesday to discuss what we've written, second to discuss the book agreed upon. The assignment for next month is "Water for Elephants", which I think I have around here somewhere.

StormValkyrie invited me to the movies tomorrow: We're going to meet CapeGypsy and we'll probably be seeing "Shutter Island"---not my first choice, but SV's treating me, so Leo it is. And I like Scorscese when he's not trying to be artsy-fartsy---I'm thinking of "Age of Innocense" which was DIRE. Even the hotness which is Daniel Day-Lewis couldn't save that one.

GK came by around 9:30. She just shipped 92 pounds of stuff to her home and was stressed by how much it cost and the hoops she had to jump through to get it done. She vented for a little while, then dove into the clutter around the couch. She stayed later than she'd originally planned, but wow, there's quite a difference. There's actually enough manuevering room to get the old couch out and the new couch in!

Big EUREKA! moment came when she found a couple of steno pads, and I carefully checked them to find out whether they were old work notebooks or actual writing notebooks---and found a chunk of something I've been looking for for the longest time. Although I suspect I'm past writing it, especially since I'd LIKE to concentrate on original stuff for the writing group.

We also uncovered quite a lot of clothing, some of which baffles me as to how it got there. Am STILL looking for "The Trouble With Angels", which I *know* I own, know I didn't loan out, and can't for the life of me find. GK departed shortly after kicking over a tub of beads, which I had to round up---but I forgive her, since she certainly didn't HAVE to come over and help.

Today wasn't too bad. No meltdowns. No major angst. Things were low-key and undemanding, tomorrow looks to be much the same. Then we've got a dog Thursday evening, two dogs Friday, and I start house-sitting for the C's. It's all good, I'm going to keep telling myself that, and sooner or later, it'll be true.

After days of cold, clamminess and rain, today is warm and sunny. I could do without the warm part, but as long as there's sunshine, I'm willing to overlook it.

I was disappointed that CapeGypsy wasn't at church today, but I emailed her a 'thank you' last night and I'll hug her when I see her. StormValkyrie also got major hugs this morning: I got to church early-ish and she presented me with my Yule gifts today. There's a very pretty silky caftan* printed with elephant-ear plants and cheetahs. There's also a glorious agate disk---it's a pendant on a gold ribbon---with a dragonfly on it. The wings are silver and the tail is bronze. I may lengthen the chain an inch or two and change the clasp, but that won't show.

One final triumph---I stopped off at WinnDixie on the way home, and spent a while combing their cleaning products aisle, where I found something I've been hunting for for a while. I don't like sponges for dishwashing, because they get mildewed and stinky so fast. For years, I've been using knitted plastic mesh scrubbers---they don't scratch, don't get as nasty, and if you want to get egg off the tines of a fork (for instance), you can stab the fork into the scrubber and shazam! Your tines are clean.

The scrubber to the side of my sink has been there for...a long time. They're darn near indestructible unless you try to clean a hot burner with them or something like that. But it's starting to come apart in the middle---no doubt staabbed by one fork too many---so it was time for a new one. Except, I couldn't find them at WalMart or Publix---and had some difficulty finding it at WD, since they were over with the mops and such instead of with the other dishwashing supplies.

They had three packages of two left, and I snagged all three. That ought to last me til 2012 at least.

And now to pick up the office so I can bring The Tree in....

* I must make a resolution to wear caftans more often, as I have a half-dozen that see action only a few times a year.
