This afternoon I dropped off some books at the library and sat down for a while to enjoy the beautiful free air-conditioning that my tax dollars are paying for. While I had my nose buried in a book, I was greeted by CapeGypsy, who was also there to stock up on her weekend reading.

From the library, I went to WalMart to pick up a few necessaries...caffeine and ice cream among them. As I was migrating from cheese and lunch meats to bread, who should I run into but MrCapeGypsy.

I know it's a smallish town, but what are the odds?!

As I came out of WalMart, it started raining rish. By the time I got everything into the car, I was soggy. By the time I got out of the parking lot, it had almost stopped raining, and was on and off all the way home. I'm really very glad I had my wiper blades replaced a while back. There hasn't been a lot of rain since then, but it sure did come in handy tooay!

Yes, it IS the rainy season---June 1 was the kick-off for hurricane season:

Have spent the last hour shifting firniture, with 100% chance of more moving to come. But this is the last of it---the stuff I got from Kat's estate---no more dealings with NosyNeighbor, no more wincing as BC manhandles things---now it's "just" a matter of making room for it all.

I need to reorganize my pantry/kitchen, repaint a 'new' coffee table and find a place for the old one. (Much as I love it, it's longer than the loveseat-couch. Time for something more size-appropriate...). Then there's the ongoing struggle with my bedroom---I need to consolidate two short, wide bookcases into one tall, narrow one...but first I have to GET to it.

*Did* get BC to take four boxes of outgoing to the thrift store, and I know he's going to raid them for a few pieces of inferior decorative aluminum and brass, I'm just going to pretend I don't care, because it's the least I can do to compensate him for all the heavy lifting.

Oh---and while I was shoving things around and checking the contents of stray plastic bags, guess what I came across? Water for Elephants, which was last month's book at writer's group. (I knew the first couple of chapters sounded familiar.) Like finding that shamrock pin the day AFTER St. Pat's---timing.

Now I'm going to take a shower and make a WalMart run....

Not the greatest Thursday ever, but it had a few redeeming qualities, one of them being a leisurely buffet lunch with the esteemed [livejournal.com profile] sbjb. She picked up the check, which is only one of the reasons I esteem her: She also loaned me her shredder, and...let's just say something good is in the wind. I'm afraid I'll jinx it if I announce it prematurely.

We were chatting about this and that and picspams and I mentioned my love of sand-sculptures. This evening, she sent me info on what looks to be a really excellent sand sculpting contest going on locally next month.

Lunch and a fast pass through BigLots next door was the highlight of my day. To begin with, I woke up after three hours of sleep and couldn't get back to sleep for two hours. managed to sleep for about three more, but blerg, felt like crap on a cracker. SBJB called before I'd even got my first ration of caffeine down---I was dressed and out the door, zoom.

Got back to a mess of emails, and my computer was raising my BP massively, I'm sure. Crawling, not doing what I told it to do, crashing---and when I ran Spybot, it took FIVE HOURS to scan my C-drive. It's improved somewhat; at least it's only a few keystrokes behind when I type, not whole lines.

Conspicuous by its absense: Anything accomplished around the house. Left two voice messages for BC, one to say anything we did would have to be late in the day, the other to say it would have to be tomorrow. At the moment, it looks like the weather should be okay, fingers are crossed that it stays that way.

Oh, wait, there *was* some slight accomplishment: I moved my cedar chest to get to the grouded outlet behind it so I could plug in the wet/dry vac to suck up the leakage on the bathroom floor, and found the bag of costume jewelery I got from Kat when we sorted through it last fall. Biggest, most obvious item in the bag: a green shamrock pin. Timing....
