TV 2010 and the Winter Games
Jan. 2nd, 2010 06:00 pmLet's see....
Monday:
Heroes, Trauma (I hope!), Hoarders
Tuesday:
White Collar (although I was used to it being on Fridays---at least it's back!)
Wednesday:
Criminal Minds, Eastwick, Leverage
Thursday:
Supernatural -- Oh, boys!
Friday:
What Not to Wear, My Fair Wedding
Saturday/Sunday:
Nothing carved in stone that I can think of....
And somewhere in the middle of it all, the Winter Olympics...I can't watch the Winter Games any more without thinking of Lillehammer and Tonya and Nancy. Mostly because I was in school at the time, taking a Brit Lit class, and we were assigned to make journal entries about the different writers we were studying. I, as usual, hadn't done a stitch of it when our instructor announed on Friday that she'd be collecting our journals on Monday.
I had the bright idea that instead of trying to think of something profound to say about the Romantic poets, I'd write short poems in the style of the subject. So that's what I did all weekend---wrote poetry and watched figure skating. This resulted in some cracktastic parodies, including "She skates in beauty Friday night"---a syrupy take-off on Byron---and a really dreadful Shelley hommage, "A 20th Century Ozymandias".
Luckily for me, my instructor had a terrific sense of humor. She liked it well enough to keep a copy to inflict upon future classes.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching the Games without a deadline looming!
