vanillafluffy: (Laundry)

I got A LOT done yesterday. I'm pleased with all I accomplished; waking up in my much cleaner bedroom was very satisfying. That said, I feel like I was hit by a truck. I'm so sore I can hardly move---that's after popping a couple ibuprophen. My shoulders are sore and the back of my legs, just above my knees, ache.

I had to shift a lot of book-filled boxes, from the floor to the bed, then from the bed to the top of my cedar chest. I had to clear off the top of said chest to make room for boxes. That's where I finally found the silver top I was looking for...at about 1AM, when I was trying to make room for the boxes so I could get into bed and sleep.)

Anyway, I have a metric arseload of laundry to do, but my closet is accessable for the first time this decade, I've tidied up the two short bookshelves over in that corner, I got all the clothes down from hooks on doors, etc.

See, my closet is set up for separates. It has two bars that run the width of it, which makes it unsuitable for hanging dresses...so I had hanged them in three different places, namely, the back of my bedroom door, my bathroom door, or from an accordian-style peg rack on the wall. Yesterday, I took the rack from the bathroom door, hung it over the other bathroom door, and transfered all the dresses I could locate to that. (There are more, either with the clothes in my laundry room, or awaiting laundering.) The back of my bedroom door is now holding some tote bags---I need to winnow out my purses, I really do---and I'd like to take down the peg rack completely so I can hang a full-length mirror.

I also snagged a tension rod I had and hung a valance up in my bathroom window. Not for privacy, because it's frosted glass, but because I got tired of getting up in the morning and having my retinas seared by light coming through the window and being multiplied when it hit the mirror over the sink. To paraphrase Auntie Mame, "How can you SEE with all that light?!" It was much appreciated when I staggered in there this morning to a dimmer, gentler light.

There are still a few clusters of clutter---my headboard, bedside tables, things hooked on floor lamps, to say nothing of actually sorting through all those boxes (six of seven, each a cubic foot of whatnot). And laundry to do. And I hope I've got some more ibuprophen somewhere, because I'm nearlyout and I'm gonna need it.

But it's progress, huzzah....

Onward.

SO proud of/happy for you!

That feeling? The one of waking up (or walking into a room) and seeing everything in its place? THAT is what I live for. Granted, I'm an organized person by nature, but it still takes time and effort. To me, though, there's no better feeling.

Though I suppose it could be argued, perhaps I need to get out more...

LOL

Ha! I wouldn't go so far as to say everything is in its place. For a lot of it, I'm not sure what place it *should* go. I'm just happy that it no longer looks like a cyclone went through there. And I'm trying to "bribe" myself with the thought that, if it's clean, once I have some cash flow, I can get the place painted, which I've been wanting to do for a very long time.

That's okay - it doesn't have to be perfect or 'House Beautiful'. As long as you're making progress and you're happy with it, it's all good. Enjoy the feeling! (And I'm referring to the sense of accomplishment, not the ache in your legs... LOL)

As I said to Mb a little while ago, I wouldn't care to have the Queen to tea, but I'm not scheduling an appearance on "Hoarders", either.

So, tell me, did you see SM this week, and if so, what did you think?

LOL! Thank God, I was wracking my brain -- SM? Six Million...er, no. Huh...

Criminal Minds, of course! I actually missed it. All my shows (with the exception of The Walking Dead) came back on this week, but I recorded Bones on Mon, Ghosthunters on Wed and Nikita last night. I've been going to bed a bit earlier until I'm fully recovered.

I understand. I'd be recording things too, if I could. Route 66 (my latest little obsession) is on weeknights at 10, which conflicts with Elementary and Blue Bloods....
