vanillafluffy: (Yes yes maybe)
Because everything else is "no". Still no check, still no appliances.

The dining room table has a pile of stuff on it that's literally two feet high---maybe more---the garage door is blocked, and the living room access to the hallway has two chairs stacked with more miscellany---the only access is via the kitchen. Still, I've measured clearances, and there shouldn't be any problem getting the appliances in or out.

And oh God, I definitely feel like I've been shit at and hit. However, I *did* get a wild hair and attack the kitchen-most corner of this dining room this morning. Got all the dessicated potted plants out to the front porch, shifted crap and more crap around, and hefted the big microwave from the kitchen to the dining room, hooray, go me!

In the process, I uncovered a spider the size of a schnauzer in the process and shrieked. Also did something or other that has made my left knee quite grumpy. Still, even though I'm not so much cleaning as pushing things around and sweeping, the sense that things have changed (somewhat for the better, although I know I'm going to be hunting things for months), gives me a feeling of satisfaction.

At the moment, I'm dying for a cool shower and a nap. Not likely, though....

Today I'm back at work in my room, currently engaged in lingerie management. I have a rolling plastic chest of drawers (5 drawers total), which I haven't properly addressed in the last couple years--because it was in my closet, which I couldn't get at, so the top drawer was panties and the rest, terra incognito.

The closet is now accessible, ditto my chest of drawers, and today I've taken all the drawers out, put them on my bed and gone through the lot. Found: two LeSnobbi wallets, a bag of nine-patch quilt squares, and some silver plate flatware that I would've sworn was somewhere else.

I've got the top two drawers dedicated to panties*, another to socks, and I'm taking a breather before trying on a tangle of bras to see if any of them are keepers. The final drawer will be for miscellaneous items like slips and gloves and the like.

My closet is coming along, too, although there's still a lot of stuff stuff in the garage that needs to be assimilated and the rest donated. Yes, damn it, donated. If I didn't manage to summon up the energy to sell it when I was frantic for cash, clearly I'm even less likely to do so now that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Most of it was thrifted to begin with, so it's completing a circle.

Back to work....

* Sorry if that's TMI about my undergarments. I know it's not the most thrilling topic; I was considering the rock and gem show, but it's $4 to get in, and we all know I'd find something to buy--I'd rather hang on to the cash and go see the new "Die Hard" movie next weekend.

I'm taking a break from the ongoing work on my bedroom. Today I'm excavating the south wall, which is largely headboard. God, what an accumulation! Still, I've found a book I've been wanting to reread, a box I'm going to stash greeting cards in (I keep running across them, and would like to corral them all in one place), and have revealed yet more floor. Floor is still exciting to me, as so much of it was covered for so long!

At some point, I will post pix---I need to send some to GK, who *knows* what a disaster it was---but right now, I'm just trying to get it to a certain point of liveability. I've done a lot of sorting and rearranging already, it seems like the more I do, the more I see to do. And this is only one room. *deep breath* But I can only do one room at a time, and the only way for it to get done is for me to do it.

I start training on Monday, so I'm trying to get as much done as I can before then, since I know it'll curtail my time and energy...it's been so long since I've had anything resembling a job, that even part-time is liable to hang my ass out to dry.

Was briefly interrupted by the mail carrier ringing my bell to drop off a box from GK, containing a snazzy beaded jacket. I just hope it cools down enough for me to wear it sometime this season!

Got up early and hit the ground running. Started shifting more boxes so that the bedroom phone jack would be accessable for the technician. Did that and a few bits of tweaking in there, as well as the sinkful of dishes before his arrival around 10.

He reminded me of Keith Carradine, which was a bit unsettling, but not nearly as much as finding out that my line in from the pole has been severed, either by the roaming asshole trespassers or a careless yard worker. After I nearly had an aneurysm, he said he wasn't going to charge me extra for what he'd done, because the (insert technical reason here) thing on the pole didn't have a good connection, so someone else would have to come out and fix that. Other guy is here now, and also says what he's doing won't be extra, although as with many things, I am cynical, and won't believe it til I've seen my first bill.

I got brunch between technicians, and afterward got back to work on my room. Went through my scarf collection and a bunch of purses, although I really need to round ALL my bags up, go through them and find a place for them to live. Still, I got a lot of stuff that was hanging in random places catagorized and tucked into less obtrusive places. I changed out the quilted wall hanging I had blocking the east window; the pastel nine-patch is now a pieced Sunbonnet Sue that G'ma Sis made.

At one point, I was thinking of turning my current office into a boudoir, and that's sounding better and better. Of course, that entails getting approximately 2000 books out of here to make room for that stuff, which means thinning out said books and making room for them in the designated library. And *that* involves dragging shelves in there, which entails clearing off those shelves and making sure there's room to haul them into place...it's complicated. Considering my ass has been dragging since last Friday, this is not going to be quick or easy.

Anyway, that's what's been going on today. Tomorrow, I'm going with Mb to a doctor's appointment; I'm waiting to hear back from her about what time that's scheduled so I can let MarketingExec know what's a good time to touch base about scheduling training.

I'm going crazy, but it's the good crazy.

vanillafluffy: (Laundry)
I got A LOT done yesterday. I'm pleased with all I accomplished; waking up in my much cleaner bedroom was very satisfying. That said, I feel like I was hit by a truck. I'm so sore I can hardly move---that's after popping a couple ibuprophen. My shoulders are sore and the back of my legs, just above my knees, ache.

I had to shift a lot of book-filled boxes, from the floor to the bed, then from the bed to the top of my cedar chest. I had to clear off the top of said chest to make room for boxes. That's where I finally found the silver top I was looking for...at about 1AM, when I was trying to make room for the boxes so I could get into bed and sleep.)

Anyway, I have a metric arseload of laundry to do, but my closet is accessable for the first time this decade, I've tidied up the two short bookshelves over in that corner, I got all the clothes down from hooks on doors, etc.

See, my closet is set up for separates. It has two bars that run the width of it, which makes it unsuitable for hanging dresses...so I had hanged them in three different places, namely, the back of my bedroom door, my bathroom door, or from an accordian-style peg rack on the wall. Yesterday, I took the rack from the bathroom door, hung it over the other bathroom door, and transfered all the dresses I could locate to that. (There are more, either with the clothes in my laundry room, or awaiting laundering.) The back of my bedroom door is now holding some tote bags---I need to winnow out my purses, I really do---and I'd like to take down the peg rack completely so I can hang a full-length mirror.

I also snagged a tension rod I had and hung a valance up in my bathroom window. Not for privacy, because it's frosted glass, but because I got tired of getting up in the morning and having my retinas seared by light coming through the window and being multiplied when it hit the mirror over the sink. To paraphrase Auntie Mame, "How can you SEE with all that light?!" It was much appreciated when I staggered in there this morning to a dimmer, gentler light.

There are still a few clusters of clutter---my headboard, bedside tables, things hooked on floor lamps, to say nothing of actually sorting through all those boxes (six of seven, each a cubic foot of whatnot). And laundry to do. And I hope I've got some more ibuprophen somewhere, because I'm nearlyout and I'm gonna need it.

But it's progress, huzzah....

Onward.

I've been working on Unfucking my bedroom, specifically, getting at my closet. It's been on my to-do list for a while, and today I got up and at it.

As with any cleaning around here, there are things I'm keeping an eye out for, and so far, I've found several, yay! There are also things I've run across and been surprised: That? I'd forgotten about that....

So far, I've been happy to run across a full package of page protectors. I *thought* I'd had a pack, but I couldn't find them, concluded I hadn't bought them after all and gotten more. (This was nearly two years ago, so this really was a serendipitious find as I've been running low.) My basic brown skirt has turned up, hanging in the closet in between some other things, most of which will be Going Away. Yay, skirt! I've missed you! Discovered a plastic bag full of assorted handmade jewelery; after I've dealt with the closet, sorting my caches of jewelery is another to-do. And, oh happy day, my ruby slippers have turned up. They've been MIA for at least three years, and I was stunned when they emerged from under the wrought-iron stand in my bedroom. (I'd've sworn I'd cleaned under there more recently that THAT.)

Anyway, I'm still looking (in particular) for a tiered silver top, a new-with-tags pair of grey flats, the two middle books from the Melendy Quartet, and the mate of my black slipper-bootie.

On a parting note, BigRed and I were discussing the on-again-off-again series of phone interviews I've been having, and that hopefully where's going to be an actual face-to-face meeting soon (next week, I hope, but am not holding my breath as it's not good for my complexion). She said, You know I adore you, right? And I admire your personal style? That being said, in the event they do want a face to face meeting, you do have a professional business outfit to wear, don’t you?. To which I succinctly replied, Pin-striped. *eyeroll* Geez, give me a little credit!

Okay, back to the bedroom; if I don't get the mess resolved, I'm not going to be able to crawl into bed tonight what with all the boxes and flooredrobe....

Update, 4:30ish: Made several trips and got all the too-big stuff out of my closet. Alll that's left are a few things I can still wear, all "That's were that went!" Also dug into a box and found several folded pairs of socks and a half-dozen pairs of panties; I'm going to wash the latter, as they may have been clean when they went in, but they're musty from being packed away. (Never mind the sniff test, just wash 'em!) Found book two of the Quartet, still need three, which I know damn well is here somewhere. Have reached the inevitable point of, what the hell am I going to do with it all?!

Keep calm, and carry on cleaning....

Update, 7ish: My closet is being repopulated with garments that are in current rotation. The sad part is, I haven't even *started* bringing things in from the garage; so far, this is just stuff that's been hanging on over-the-door racks. Wow.

While I was shifting things around, I tried on a coat I got at the Melbourne Goodwill back when I first started working next door. Very nice. Italian. Olive, kind of tweedy. At the time, I could get it on, though buttoning it made me look like a stuffed sausage. And today, I buttoned it up, no problem. (Although I haven't tried to sit down in it---the acid test.) Too bad we're having such a warm winter....
