Found!

I've been working on Unfucking my bedroom, specifically, getting at my closet. It's been on my to-do list for a while, and today I got up and at it.

As with any cleaning around here, there are things I'm keeping an eye out for, and so far, I've found several, yay! There are also things I've run across and been surprised: That? I'd forgotten about that....

So far, I've been happy to run across a full package of page protectors. I *thought* I'd had a pack, but I couldn't find them, concluded I hadn't bought them after all and gotten more. (This was nearly two years ago, so this really was a serendipitious find as I've been running low.) My basic brown skirt has turned up, hanging in the closet in between some other things, most of which will be Going Away. Yay, skirt! I've missed you! Discovered a plastic bag full of assorted handmade jewelery; after I've dealt with the closet, sorting my caches of jewelery is another to-do. And, oh happy day, my ruby slippers have turned up. They've been MIA for at least three years, and I was stunned when they emerged from under the wrought-iron stand in my bedroom. (I'd've sworn I'd cleaned under there more recently that THAT.)

Anyway, I'm still looking (in particular) for a tiered silver top, a new-with-tags pair of grey flats, the two middle books from the Melendy Quartet, and the mate of my black slipper-bootie.

On a parting note, BigRed and I were discussing the on-again-off-again series of phone interviews I've been having, and that hopefully where's going to be an actual face-to-face meeting soon (next week, I hope, but am not holding my breath as it's not good for my complexion). She said, You know I adore you, right? And I admire your personal style? That being said, in the event they do want a face to face meeting, you do have a professional business outfit to wear, don’t you?. To which I succinctly replied, Pin-striped. *eyeroll* Geez, give me a little credit!

Okay, back to the bedroom; if I don't get the mess resolved, I'm not going to be able to crawl into bed tonight what with all the boxes and flooredrobe....

Update, 4:30ish: Made several trips and got all the too-big stuff out of my closet. Alll that's left are a few things I can still wear, all "That's were that went!" Also dug into a box and found several folded pairs of socks and a half-dozen pairs of panties; I'm going to wash the latter, as they may have been clean when they went in, but they're musty from being packed away. (Never mind the sniff test, just wash 'em!) Found book two of the Quartet, still need three, which I know damn well is here somewhere. Have reached the inevitable point of, what the hell am I going to do with it all?!

Keep calm, and carry on cleaning....

Update, 7ish: My closet is being repopulated with garments that are in current rotation. The sad part is, I haven't even *started* bringing things in from the garage; so far, this is just stuff that's been hanging on over-the-door racks. Wow.

While I was shifting things around, I tried on a coat I got at the Melbourne Goodwill back when I first started working next door. Very nice. Italian. Olive, kind of tweedy. At the time, I could get it on, though buttoning it made me look like a stuffed sausage. And today, I buttoned it up, no problem. (Although I haven't tried to sit down in it---the acid test.) Too bad we're having such a warm winter....

Lunch was sublime. I tried Ruby Tuesday's Watermelon Fizz as my beverage, and it was delish. Kind of like liquid bubblegum. With a squeeze of lime, it was downright amazing. Alas, I had to sqitch over to diet Coke after a couple refills, because they were out of watermelon.

BigRed ordered the southwestern egg rolls for us as an appetizer---they were fresh out of the fryer and very tasty.

After much deliberation, I had the asiago-peppercorn sirloin, which was oh-so-tender. I ate every morsel, probably making little unconscious whimpers of bliss, as I'm wont to do, although BigRed kindly didn't say anything.

We chatted about the usual---books, movies, tv...I mentioned Sons of Anarchy, and she said, "I saw Bill Lucking when I was flipping channels the other day and thought of you."

"That's why I love you," I replied. "Not only do you know who Bill Lucking is, you have correctly identified him as one of my lust interests." Which goes clear back to our high school days, and a short-lived show called Big Hawaii that we both enjoyed for our own reasons...although Bill was the reason I started watching it, actually....

The Italian cream cake was as good as I remembered, although after several glasses of watermelon fizz, steak, salad and green beans, I couldn't finish it. BigRed also left about half of her cheesecake. She had errands to run on her way home, and declined to take it, so I put them both in a to-go box, having had the foresight to provide myself with an insulated carrier bag in the car. Prescient much?

In addition to the luscious lunch, BigRed also presented me with a cute card and a WalMart GC. Yay! I considered the Person of Interest DVDs, but that's a little out of my price range. I think I may invest in an iTunes card and/or a TracFone card. Or Barnes and Noble. Decisions, decisions!

Departed Ruby Tuesday and visited the Entermann's store, where I snagged a loaf of bread and some pumpkin spice cake that was too yummy-looking to pass up. From there I hit Publix---they have Progresso soups on sale for $1.50 this week, which is a fantastic price. Thanks to Mb, I had a couple coupons as well. Ended up nabbing a dozen cans, which will serve as quick-and-easy meals for a while.

Speaking of quick and easy, I need to spend time this evening clearing off my kitchen counter; PJ is coming by after church with my "new" microwave. Woohoo!

Tomorrow, BigRed is lunching me at Ruby Tuesday. I've been studying their menu online---the only thing I know for sure I want is the Italian Creme Cake for dessert. Otherwise, I'm browsing the site going, "Hmm, that sounds good. Or that...oooh, asiago?!"

With the need to be civilized in public, I've got laundry happening. Went out there thinking I might make a stab at the laundry room, but getting a load into the washer was all I was up for. It's still a little too warm for prolonged effort.

It looks like I'm getting a "new" microwave---PJ and AI have remodeled their kitchen, and their old one is up for grabs. It's twice the size of the one I've got (which was also secondhand), and I look forward to being able to cook with ALL my Pyrex and Corelle, not just the small pieces that fit in that dorm-sized microwave. Of course, the new one is going to take up a whole lot more real estate on the counter, but everything's a trade-off....

I've been writing a bit this week. Got a little treat for someone (backstory!), and have been trying to concentrate on my CAYN fic. It's already about two-thirds done---I started it a few years ago---and I know where it's going. Getting there...I have to get back into the rhythm of writing. I need to get it finished in good time to allow a beta time to go over it, and it's definitely going to need a beta; I've revised it numerous times over the years, tend to lapse into present tense AND my POV is prone to wandering.

Time to go respin the spin cycle---I read where that saves wear and tear on the dryer.
