Getting up so early Monday totally buggered my sleep schedule...I'm at the point where I'm so tired I feel like my IQ has dropped 20 points. gah.

On the other hand, work is going swimmingly. Doing something different this week, namely sending emails to people who are already signed with us, asking them to refer their friends and offering free time if their friends sign up. Nice change from browsing websites.

This afternoon, I got a text from J, asking if I'd like to be kidnapped for a quick drink. Since the walls have been closing in, I agreed with alacrity. While I was changing into something less disreputable, Mb called and proposed kidnapping me over the weekend. I agreed to that just as fast---now that Bozo is gone (long damn story that I haven't gone into, but the fool needs killing), Casa Mb is a happy place to be again.

The walls are closing in here; I am not good with trusting the Universe; this may be what I'm supposed to be learning here, but I'm struggling with NEED/WANT/MUST GET. I'm not going to starve, FFS---I just really crave things I don't have on hand, woe is me.

Mb *did* suggest that I might like to do some baking up at her place while I'm there, which is actually quite a good idea; I have some chicken in the freezer that I'd love to get baked---I don't mind if that means I'm finding creative uses for pre-cooked chicken all next week. It beats living on eggs, tinned beans, soup and ramen, which is largely the alternative.

Yesterday's mail brought a lovely card from [livejournal.com profile] pwcorgigirl as well as a belated Valentine parcel from [livejournal.com profile] kukkurkurat. (It's hard to time these things intercontinentally.) Three very inspirational jewelry crafting 'zines---I haven't had any new 'zines in months (aside from my BHG supscription)---and a terrific leopard print wristlet. The wristlet I've been using has prongs that snag on everything and the zipper splits if you're not careful with it, so this is really freakin' timely! (Also a coin for luck and a sweet little dragonfly ring!) So I make be isolated by circumstances, but I still feel the love---thanks, gals!

Lunch was sublime. I tried Ruby Tuesday's Watermelon Fizz as my beverage, and it was delish. Kind of like liquid bubblegum. With a squeeze of lime, it was downright amazing. Alas, I had to sqitch over to diet Coke after a couple refills, because they were out of watermelon.

BigRed ordered the southwestern egg rolls for us as an appetizer---they were fresh out of the fryer and very tasty.

After much deliberation, I had the asiago-peppercorn sirloin, which was oh-so-tender. I ate every morsel, probably making little unconscious whimpers of bliss, as I'm wont to do, although BigRed kindly didn't say anything.

We chatted about the usual---books, movies, tv...I mentioned Sons of Anarchy, and she said, "I saw Bill Lucking when I was flipping channels the other day and thought of you."

"That's why I love you," I replied. "Not only do you know who Bill Lucking is, you have correctly identified him as one of my lust interests." Which goes clear back to our high school days, and a short-lived show called Big Hawaii that we both enjoyed for our own reasons...although Bill was the reason I started watching it, actually....

The Italian cream cake was as good as I remembered, although after several glasses of watermelon fizz, steak, salad and green beans, I couldn't finish it. BigRed also left about half of her cheesecake. She had errands to run on her way home, and declined to take it, so I put them both in a to-go box, having had the foresight to provide myself with an insulated carrier bag in the car. Prescient much?

In addition to the luscious lunch, BigRed also presented me with a cute card and a WalMart GC. Yay! I considered the Person of Interest DVDs, but that's a little out of my price range. I think I may invest in an iTunes card and/or a TracFone card. Or Barnes and Noble. Decisions, decisions!

Departed Ruby Tuesday and visited the Entermann's store, where I snagged a loaf of bread and some pumpkin spice cake that was too yummy-looking to pass up. From there I hit Publix---they have Progresso soups on sale for $1.50 this week, which is a fantastic price. Thanks to Mb, I had a couple coupons as well. Ended up nabbing a dozen cans, which will serve as quick-and-easy meals for a while.

Speaking of quick and easy, I need to spend time this evening clearing off my kitchen counter; PJ is coming by after church with my "new" microwave. Woohoo!

TTFN.

Got GK's CARE package on Tuesday, simultanelously with an attack of IDK...sleeping sickness? Bitten by a tsetse fly? (Hey, after the poisonous spider bite, nothing would surprise me!) Anyway two and a half days of mostly sleeping, waking to shower and fall back to sleep again. Blergh. I feel like refried shit. Hope I perk up by Monday.

The Nook is fabu. Was a little nonplused to find out that it isn't illuminated, as I'm accustomed to from the iPhone. Still, I've been happily engrossed. I'm currently in the middle of "Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", which is rather different from the movie---better, I think. At least so far.

In addition to the Nook, GK's flat-rate box also included single-serving cups of chocolate-peanut butter, a small summer sausage, some licorice, a black cami, a dark grey "silk" blouse, a pair of licac pajamas----all of which fit. The PJ's really surprised me in that respect, since the top is 18/20, which I don't claim to be, and the bottoms are 22/24. There's also a handsome square aluminum bowl with a dragonfly perched on it, just the thing for my coffee table.

I'm going to go crawl back into bed now. Have a stellar weekend, y'all!

It rained all day yesterday, and I had a digestive upset pretty much all day. Had to make a caffeine run, and just scooted up to WinnDixie...didn't even feel like going the extra mile-and-a-half to WalMart...two school zones in that distance, and just NO.

Got back with some cheap sustanence and checked my mail. Was momentarily puzzled by the sight of a puffy manila envelope in my mailbox. I couldn't think of anything I'd ordered, other than that skirt last month, and I've had that for a while. The return address told the tale: It was from [livejournal.com profile] dine, though I still couldn't imagine what it was.

Got it open and discovered THIS:

which I'd recently lusted after while it was listed on eBay. I'd written it off as pie-in-the-sky, and was astonished and thrilled that it landed in my mailbox. Thanks again, Dine!

Of course, now I need to summon the energy to clear off my dining table so I can install it. Wasn't up to it yesterday, and I'm still lethargic today; I got up, had breakfast, took a shower and washed my hair (as they're predicting ultra low overnight temps tonight and I badly needed a good scrub), watched The Dog Whisperer, and fell asleep for another 3.5 hours. A sleepless night tonight is a foregone conclusion.

Had some odd dreams in the course of said nap: First one was of running into Jensen Ackles, who was in a stage version of "Rocky Horror", and wearing a Riff-Raff wig: Long, scraggly, thinning. He reminded me that we'd met before, around Christmas-time, something about bowling with his sister? IDK. I hadn't wanted to bring that up, as he meets so many people, and I thought it would seem gauche. But he remembered me, and we chatted plesantly and made plans for a get-together at a later time.

The other was something about being in a building that was partially used as a church. Something about selling a set of Barbie-type fashion ice skater dolls on eBay to settle some debts that Castiel was really responsible for. (The girl doll was blonde and wearing a glittery red ensemble, the male doll was wearing something that looked like Chippendales Go to the Icecapades.) He didn't seem to think it was a big deal, but I was exasperated because they were worth a lot more than a hasty auction was going to bring in. The owners were making a sacrifice for him, and he was indifferent. I left and went up to the second floor. I planned to go up to the attic, where I had a sanctuary, but I realized several people from the church had seen me, and I didn't want them to follow me to the attic and find it, so I went into an open room where I could say I'd gone up for the view from the window there.

Here's hoping I feel better over the weekend so I can make progress on the dining room....

I have been avoiding the mailbox for a couple days---it's always bills, or so it seems---but this morning when I took out the trash, there was an envelope from [livejournal.com profile] dine with some classic tinted postcards!

I have a an office building in El Paso, TX---the Bassett Towers, all 16 stories of it, and it's the tallest building in sight. There are several from the Southwest---cacti, a canal, scenes of native life---an old woman weaving a basket bigger than she is, and an adobe house festooned with strings of chili peppers. The latter informs me on the back that, "The Indians, like the Mexicans, are lovers of Chili, and the red peppers are ever in evidence hanging in front of their dwellings."

Of course, the dates of the postmarks are 1944, 1945 and 1946, so this was before the term "Native American" was in common use. I suspect that most of those people, if confronted with the term, would have furrowed their brows and said, "Of course I'm a native American, I was born here, wasn't I?" I think "indigenous Americans" would be more accurate, but what do I know?

There's also one basic black and white picture card of Faribault, Minnesota, which is so 40s, between the old cars and the ladies' fashions, that I'm swooning, and wondering if Central Ave. South still looks like that...?

Anyway, the postcards are ear-marked for my hall bath, if/when I get around to cleaning it out completely and hanging the wallpaper I got for it. It's only been on my to-do list for the last 5 years or so.
