After waiting to hear back from The Beatle (I emailed her on Friday and haven't heard a peep back yet), I jumped the chain of command and left a polite but urgent email message for the gentleman who contacted me regarding my W9, Figured if he was handling that, he much have *something* to do with payroll.

Got a call back in under 15 minutes. He says a check was cut and mailed out on the 15th of March, but he's going to cut a new one and Fed Ex it out right away, so God willing, I will have it Thursdayish. It's late enough in the day today that I don't *really* expect it tomorrow, although I'd be awfully pleased if it was.

Meanwhile, with a little help from my friends, I have caffeine, toilet paper and sundry groceries, etc. I was down to my last roll of t.p., which was making me quite nervous! Did that bright and early this morning, courtesy of Mb, who had an 8:15 bone scan scheduled. [livejournal.com profile] thru_the_blinds, I let her sign the log-in sheet with my fabulous wooden pen, which she really liked. I may have to arrange a special Christmas present for her....

The scan took all of 10 minutes, then we hit Publix. I came home, worked til the mail carrier came through, then made that call when it was apparent that all I had was junk mail. (Well, a few coupons I might use, but mostly drek.)

Come to think of it, I still haven't had breakfast OR lunch. I think I'm going to go do something about that!

I just KNEW that there had to be someone that could get to the bottom of it~ I have no patience with things like that~ esp when it comes to my $.
Wonder where the original check went?? Do you think any of those juvenile delinquents in your hood could be messing with mail? I guess the W9 guy could tell if it had been cashed already.

That was certainly before I expected to see it. I wasn't racing down to the mailbox at the first sound of the mail truck. It could have been one of the little hooligans. Or it could have been legitimately lost. Or he could be full of shit and it was never sent at all. But since I'm not going anywhere til my car gets fixed, I'll be here til FedEx lands.

It's here---Mb immediately picked me up, ran me to the bank, and I'm spending Friday/Saturday night at her place.

I was so relieved, I slept for 10 solid hours last night, and today I've been more relaxed than at any time in the last six months.

A job at last and a paycheck in the bank after all this time, then I bet that was the sweetest sleep. *hugs*

That and Mb has a very comfy bed, a bedroom that stays dark and a QUIET neighborhood. Bliss!

Why do you call her the "Beatle?"

Because on conference calls, when she agreed with something, she had a habit of saying "Yeah yeah yeah!".

Sorry for the late reply -- work has been heinous (don't ask) and my internet/cable has been wonky. Damn Time Warner...

Anyway, SO glad you're getting a check finally (and you should've had it for a few days by now, I hope) and the pen was loved!

It got here Friday afternoon and I'm making plans to get my car looked at on Monday. Crossing fingers that it can be fixed. I really miss not being able to run to the store or the library or wherever!

There's been a lot of trouble with the USPS around here lately. I mailed a payment to a vendor from the office (Cape Canaveral) that only had to go to Cocoa Beach. She received it over one month after I mailed it.
I am betting that the original check shows up in your mailbox. I am sure they stopped payment on it by now but I'll bet it shows.
