I HAVE A PERMANENT JOB!!!
Yup, I got the news when I went in today...had that meet with my mgr, and he was, like, "O,BTW..." HR will make it official next week. The upside: I will know where my income is coming in from, and I'll have benefits like paid days off and insurance. The downside: A $1 an hour paycut. (WTF?! All I can say is, for $160 a month, those benefits better be out-fucking-standing.)
I put the cherry on that triumph by placing a $1500 order for some old gal (I'm being ironic; she's less than a decade older than I am---she told me so.) who bought TWO LeSnobbi bags. ($695 apiece, plus tax and shipping---that's more than my last three cars cost---put together.) I got her life story and a lot of philosophy---I'm pretty sure she was snockered---in between my southern-fried Jeeves routine, "Yes, ma'am, that's a wonderful bag. A lovely choice, ma'am. And which credit card will you be using today, ma'am?"
Damn, I'm happy!

Date: 2007-01-14 07:59 am (UTC)Too bad about the pay cut (that's kinda weird--pay the seasonal help more than your full-timers), but if the health and dental insurance are decent, then it may help soften the blow a bit.
What kind of bag costs $695? Are we talking about handbags, luggage, cargo carriers for your Ferrari, what?

Date: 2007-01-14 08:35 am (UTC)And we're talking yupscale ladies handbags, here. I personally wouldn't have most of that shit if you gave it to me, let alone pay that kind of money for it. It's more than I take home in a month!

Date: 2007-01-14 08:40 am (UTC)It's not so much where the meals were coming from---I like my food too much to starve---but things like utilities, taxes and my internet connection are every bit as vital.
Now I just have to figure out how to fit in time to write, cuz that's really suffering....
