Ran down to the bank and opened a savings account today. *Not* the same bank I have a checking account at--this happens to be the bank closest to where I work. They have a minimum of annoying service charges, and I've set up direct deposit for a given dollar amount every pay period. That way, I can get the property taxes squirreled away without having to worry that 1st bank (checking acct bank) is going to help themselves to my savings to compensate for overdrafts. (It's my hope that I'll build up enough of a cushion that I can get *caught up* with the property taxes and have something set aside for car repairs, home improvements and the like. Checking account for operating expenses, savings for upgrades and future projects....)

Tomorrow, I get my new 2ndhand TV, hooray! The prospect of something less than 20 years old really is lovely. I don't think I've *ever* had a TV this new, with the exception of a $25 b&w portable I had back in the 80's. The one I have now is at least 3rdhand, the picture stays dark for the first few minutes, then brightens, at least for an hour or two. This one is a freebie, thanks to someone at church who got a mega-flatscreen for Xmas. The price is right!

T's going to come over after work--I'm going to get him to help me get the old TV out before going to fetch the newer one. Make room, make room!
