CapeGypsy and her hub proved that the back of a Hyundai will hold 165 gallons of trash when they hauled off three bagzillas full.

I'm disturbingly close to having 55 gallons of aluminum cans---most of them crushed---and a similar quantity of plastic bottles, some squashed, some not. I'm going to see if I can assemble another bagzilla that they can get on Sunday after church---aside from the plastics. (The cans I'll recycle and save the bag.)

I've been working in what's currently my office---swept quite a few cans out from behind the file cabinet and about 8 gallons of crap plus more bottles. That doesn't include the crap INSIDE the file cabinets, the laundry basket full of papers, the shelves or the closet.

And I know, I should probably focus on one room at a time, but I never said I was logical.

Speaking of which, I'm having fantasies about Trek Reboot wherein there's a threesome: Uhura and Saavik screw Spock into bemused exhaustion, then go at each other. (And I'm not thinking Kirstie Alley, either. Sorry, Kirstie!)

The dining room saga continues: I'm almost down to the tablecloth, which is leopard print, and sorely in need of laundering. What? I'm surfeited with leopard print, if you want to know the truth. Lately I seem to be more into wearing polka dots and decorating with stripes....

Had to take a break, because I needed to sit under a fan for a little while. I'm hoping that eventually, once I get the space cleaned out and Mr.Gypsy comes in to help, that we can rehab the sliding glass doors. If we could take them off the tracks and clean out the tracks/replace the moving parts so that I could actually USE them, that would be great. Like now---being able to open one for ventilation would help a lot.

As much as I'd love to rip them out and put in a single door and wall, I just can't afford it. I've priced it out, we're talking around $300---$80 for the door I want, last time I checked, plus hardware, another $40-50, then lumber for framing, bricks, mortar, drywall.... *sigh* Which is not to say it won't EVER happen, just that it's not going to happen NOW. Meanwhile, I'd like emergency access to my back yard if I need it, without breaking glass.

Okay, time to get my ass back to work!

The only things on my dining room table right now are two decorative candles and a can of bug spray (have gassed two wasps so far).

I'm struggling to keep it that way---I have a big Rubbermaid tub full of decorative aluminum (which I really ought to sort through and perhaps thin out) on one chair and a drawer from my long-departed bureau balanced on another. The drawer is crammed with sentimental tchotchkes, still more stuff that needs to be winnowed.

Meanwhile, I'm hoping that tomorrow the Gypsys will drag that typewriter out of there (it's also occupying a chair), and the rolled up, threadbare rug also lurking under the table. I'll be sorry to see it so---it's octagonal, very 70s, with a geometric mandala in yellow and brown---but it needs to be completely rebound, and I'm just not up to it as a DIY.

And then...the only thing in that corner will be the table and chairs. (Must relocate STUFF. Too much STUFF....)

Sorry if the constant posts are a nuisance---I work in spurts, and then the heat gets to me and I have to sit down. Here under the fan is the most comfortable place.

I scrubbed my way down to the bottom of both sinks---this isn't to say every dish is done, there are still some piled on the counter and stove, but by then both hands were raisins from the hot water from fingertips to wrists and it was time for a break.

I fell asleep after "lunch" (seems silly to call it "breakfast" at 3 in the afternoon!) and napped for a couple hours. Got up and stood under the cold water for a few minutes. I still feel very slow and lethargic. I DO NOT look forward to August when it's this wretched before June. Four more months of this? DO NOT WANT!
