My first action on staggering out of bed this morning was to grab my bank card and the phone and call the cable company...six days without an internet of my own was a week in Hell. (You know, Hell---where Time is dilated, so that six days is really sixty, which in Internet Time encompasses entire glacial epochs. Thank God that's over!)

The job situation: They've extended my probation by another week, and set a new goal that's even more absurd than the original ridiculous goal. I haven't a prayer, but at least it gets me paid for another week. They can fire me, but I'll be damned if I'll quit (can't get benefits if I quit, and I'd NEED them). So stay tuned....

The good thing about the extension is my schedule for next week; I'll have a 3-day weekend, because there's Posh Brits training on Wednesday (Yes, they of the $1300 bag!), which is an all-day thing, and I'd be out early enough to get home for Leverage. Unless, of course, I arrive for training and get hauled into HR and canned, which I wouldn't put past them.

Oh, and to add stress to more stress, Current Boss told me yesterday that I'm "overdrawn" on my vacation time and must relinquish three of the days I've selected. So either I miss my birthday week vacation, Dr Bizarre's wedding, or Halloween/The Full Moon Ball at church. Since it's probably going to be a moot point in a week, I'm resisting. (And plan to call in and go anyway. It's not my fault their fancy-schmancy new time-keeping software sucks ass. I was already planning to call out the Thursday before the wedding. Asshats.)

Was annoyed last night that I hadn't set a timer for SPN---I walked into the breakroom at 9:45 to find it was my favorite ep of last season. (Yeah, I know Mischa is made of awesome, but I totally cougar Brock---what can I say?!)

Thanks to combining Leverage and IMDb, I have rescued Secondhand Lions from my vid shelf and have rewatched it twice---Christian Kane's character is Robert Duvall's younger self in flashbacks*, and he gets to do swordfighting! In tight pants! With a big walrus moustache! Woohoo! That, and my renewed internet access are the high point of my week!

* And yet, there is NO fanfic that I can find for it---how can this BE?!

What kinds of ridiculous conditions are they putting on you. (I'm going to assume they're ridiculous.) I don't understand how a company can put time constraints on CSR calls, since isn't generally up to the customer how long a call ends up lasting? How can you cut them short without being rude (and therefore giving bad customer service - which, I'm guessing, is also another no-no). Definitely make them fire you and get those benefits!

They are completely demented, requirements set forth by a pack of howling jackals who couldn't do my job if there was a gun pointed at their heads and their lives depended on it. I'm supposed to average UNDER four minutes per call, which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of---even if I get someone who knows exactly what they want, has the item numbers and their credit card in hand, it's not possible to take an order in under five minutes. Fact. And at least 80% of them have questions first, multiple items, change their minds about color or size, misread the number on the card, etcetera. Without being rude, I've gotten much better at telling the indecisive ones, "We're here 24/7, call back when you know what you want." That doesn't even begin to touch on the "If you weren't an idiot, you wouldn't be answering a phone, give me a manager" calls, where they won't believe me when I explain that refunds have protocol, we can't just give you your money back today because you say so. Or the twat I had tonight who gave me a ration of shit because UPS forgot to put her package on the truck for delivery today. She'd ordered a $1000 dress for an event, paid $28 for overnight shipping, and had a hissy because "all" I could do was request a credit for her shipping. No, I couldn't get her a discount on the dress. Because we don't do that, that's why. And if you look at the page on the website with that dress, you'll see it's FINAL FUCKING SALE. No, you can't send it back. Too bad, so sad---you want a manager? Gladly! And btw, the dress was one of the fugliest things I've ever seen; I wouldn't wear it to a dogfight.

Sorry---maybe you can tell tonight was a full moon.

Welcome back!

I love Second Hand Lions and rewatched it recently just because I needed more CK.

I've been hearing about CK for years, but didn't catch the bug til Leverage. I watched 'Lions back when I first got it and was underwhelmed, but it's growing on me. Especially after watching the deleted scenes---they really add depth to the finished version. (There needs to be a director's cut!)

Just finished a work rant to a previous poster. Today was challenging. Like the bumper sticker says,

"Yesterday is a memory.
Tomorrow is a vision.
Today is a bitch."

My good friend had similar issues when working for the then Bell South. Her stress level was so high that she ended up with fibro myalgia. Stress could be a reason for your hurting shoulders, etc. Long story short, she ended up suing them and winning after they either laid her off or fired her after 20+ years of dedicated service. Asshats, indeed! I could never work there as I like to talk to people and people (especially the elderly) LOVE to talk to me.
These companies are so unrealistic!!!
Let them get rid of you--then we can job hunt together--- ha ha

I've "diagnosed" the left shoulder as a classic torn rotator cuff. It matches all the symptoms listed at Wikipedia. The right side...could be stress. We'll see what happens after the axe comes down...because there's not much doubt in my mind that it will.

We can proof-read each other's resumes.

I'm SO sorry about the job situation - been there, done that and the whole thing just sucks beyond the telling of it. I wish there was something I could do....

But ooooh, Christian Kane! I've been a fan since he played evil lawyer Lindsey on "Angel". And the guy can really sing/rock the house too!

And I wish I could offer concrete help for your troubles---but we'll have to keep on thinking good thoughts, unless one of us wins the lottery.

See, the trouble with "Angel" is, they didn't hook me quick enough. I lasted through the first few eps, yawned, changed the channel and never went back. So I was late discovering the charms of CK---I kept hearing about him, but it took my on-again, off-again fancy for Hutton to lure me into his orbit.
