This is the latest I've been awake in a while. Long day. Took the advice on the news last night and voted late morning. Their logic was that most people would be trying to get in before or after work; I got there around 11. Not much of a wait at all---it took me longer to mark the danged four-page ballot than it did to get my ballot and stand in line for a booth.

Got compliments on my cloche, to which I'd pinned my jaunty silver donkey. I've had that little guy for close to fifteen years, and I still remember when and where I got him: It was a sunny Saturday afternoon. Yard sale on North Tropical Trail, a corner lot. The gal had a LOT of jewelry.

Discovered to my great delight that there was a wifi signal out in the parking lot, so I sat there for quite a while (like, two hours) checking my email and updating my apps. Gave me a chance to watch the turnout, which was steady.

Have had a headache all day, made worse by tension, talking heads and sobbing out of sheer relief at the outcome. I'm fixing to crawl into bed and sleep until the hellhounds wake me.

I never did get that pork cooked; I made myself a plate of eggs when I got in, and that's been pretty much it all day.

*hugs you and dances around* Yay Obama! I can surely understand you having a headache, though....I very nearly got one from all the election hijinks, and I'm not even an American! ;)

On behalf of my country, I'm sorry about that!

Awww, that's OK. *hugs* It's less stressful than actually LIVING with it, I'm sure!

My father and brother (both staunch Republicans) are going on and on and on about tax hikes and what-not.

SO WHAT? Taxes get raised every f-cking election, no matter what party is in power. It is what it is. We'll manage somehow.

Unless they're a lot better off than I think, I doubt the tax hikes are going to drastically affect them. My understanding is that it's on +$250K income...and anybody who's making that kind of money can frakin afford it. If they can't, they're living above their means. Unlike the rest of us, who are lucky to have the basic means to live.

That's what I thought too. Neither of them make anywhere near that, btw. Neither do I. LOL. Still, my brother is all "Oh, sure - you're okay with Obama winning NOW but wait til 1/3 of your take home pay is gone. How are you and Caelie gonna manage THEN?"

*shakes head*

Yeah, whatever.

I hear you. I love Mb dearly, but I've had to bite my lip to keep from going off on her lately. She's one of the so-called 47%, but she disses the Prez constntly, and despite me trying to set her straight, is convinced he's personally responsable for "shutting down the spacecenter". (Um, no.)

A LOT of people think that he's responsible for the decline of the space program~ if they did their research, they'd know that it was the big W who did that.

Exactly! Consider how W's budget cuts and lack of accountability when it came to safety and maintanence was responsible for the Colombia disaster, since the shuttle program was winding down anyway. The whole administration suffered from short-sightedness, in addition to the general stupidity of the man at the top.

But don't get me started; I'm supposed to speak tomorrow, and I've still got to put my presentation together.
