Jerico---I can't believe they hit us with that cliffhanger. Well, okay, yes I can---but OMG!
Eric didn't return with the rest of the guys who were building turbines in New Berne. Stanley says Eric told him he wasn't ready to come back, but Jake doesn't buy it and gets Hawkins to go with him to look for his brother. The mayor there is also the sheriff, and he and his shifty-eyed deputy are up to something, but they claim that Heather persuaded Eric to return to Jericho and they're gone. One of the locals that Jake met at Blackjack slips him a note, but the deputy is keeping an eye on him. Jake and Hawkins sneak up and capture the deputy. Hawkins scares the bejezus out of him, and he admits the sheriff behind it all.
Instead of going after the sheriff, they go to the factory, where they find evidence of New Berne's Master Plan: there's a map of Jericho, with a list of its assets. They snoop around the factory some more, and find out that wind turbines aren't all they're manufacturing there---"Those are mortar rounds," Hawkins tells us, since presumably Jake would be able to figure that out for himself.
Jake hasn't outgrown being a hot-head. When Hawkins says they need to go back and warn Jericho what they're facing, he blurts, "We have to stop them!" and charges out there, where he's promptly caught and dragged off to jail. Guess who's in the cell across the aisle? If you guessed Eric, you win the rhinestone-studded handcuffs! Now, if these were the Winchester boys in there, they would've been out of there by the top of the hour, but no.+++
The sheriff is being all charismatic and inciting the townsfolk for the invasion to come. While he's rabble-rousing, Eric tells Jake that Heather was trying to sabotage the mortar plant and she's dead. Jake looks unhappy, and I wasn't real pleased, either. I liked her a lot better than Emily, although bear in mind, at this point, we have only Eric's word that she's dead.
The Green brothers are dragged out of their cells and paraded in front of the townspeople, and much hay is made of the fact that they showed up on the same day the plant was sabotaged. Angry mob---things don't look good for our heroes, but Hawkins is watching from the shadows. Roll end credits.
That wasn't everything---there were secondary subplots all over the place:
Johnston and Eric's mistress the tavern wench hang out and reminiscence about Eric while he helps her fix the still---when he gets home, Mama Green is pissed, because he was there all day. Johnston gets the last word: he says Mary (I had to IMDb it; I couldn't remember the bimbo's name.) might be the only reason Eric would have to return to Jericho.
Skyler has herself declared an emancipated minor so she and Frodale can strike a deal with one of the friendlier guys from New Berne for part of her share of the salt mine. Gray is peeved, because she has no proof her parents are dead. Seriously? He likes being in control, and this threatens him.
Deputy Taylor (the guy Darcy Hawkins and her kids are staying with) is concerned about some of the drawings Hawkins Junior has produced, and Darcy is twitchy, especially when Taylor has a private talk with Junior, who doesn't want to tell Mama about it. She then utters the most ironic line in the whole episode to her son: "We do not keep secrets in this family!"
Stanley finds out his sister's boyfriend has moved to the farm. This is the first time I've met him---the kid's a total space case. Over dinner, he rambles that what they need is to get the internet up and running again, and that'll solve everything. (You had to be there.) Stanley starts to throw him out, but Mimi's been the voice of reason, so he settles for making the kid sleep on the couch. A little later, Bonnie thanks her brother for letting the boyfriend stay. Very cute scene with the two of them signing while Mimi watches...but Mimi's picked up a little of the lingo on her own. *smirk*
No sign of any of the following this week:
Allison Hawkins
DeputyLoki** Bill
Emily Sullivan (Have they ever explained why her last name is Sullivan instead of Prowse?!)
Roger, Emily exiled fiance---I wonder if he's feeding info to the New Bernese?
Jonas Prowse (I'd love to see more of him!)

+++ Jake = Dean. They're both quiet, intense, and drive muscle cars. Which I suppose means Eric = Sam. From the flashback ep, we know Eric was a lawyer, and he and Sam have about the same luck when it comes to women. (Except that I *like* Sam, and I think Eric is a cheating weasel-dick.) I'm trying to picture John Winchester and Johnston Green having a drink together; somehow I don't think Mama Green would approve. At all.
