Okay, I know I've been rabbiting on about [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange for quite a while now, but the pay-off is here. The stories started going up yesterday, and this morning, I woke to discover to my immense delight that there's a two-part Heroes/Jericho crossover with my name on it, and it's fabulous. (I devoured the first part before leaving for church, but you don't eat a pig like that all at once. I came home and got sucked right back in and sat there bouncing in my chair and clapping.) There's also a terrific Supernatural/X-Files tale by [livejournal.com profile] strangevisitor7 with an excellent pre-series Bobby: Monsters vs. Aliens.

I'm telling you, GO to [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange. If my fandoms don't float your boat, there are a total of 50 of them* for your enjoyment, and posting is ongoing for the next couple of weeks. Great talent and lots of variety, what more can you ask for?

Nothing has changed on the job front. AI has given me some food for thought about how to handle the exit interview when it comes, which I'm plotting to defer until next week. Meanwhile, please continue to think good thoughts for me, but I'm really burned out on the subject.

I stayed home today---at least this way I know I'll get paid for that much of my personal time!---and slept, a lot. Usual overnight, 3:30-11:30. Got up, dragged around, called out of work, napped again for an hour. Got up for a cold drink, then slept for a couple more. I don't feel sick, aside from leaving my a/c'ed bedroom in the middle of the day, just so tired I had to lie down. I fell asleep with my glasses on and a book facedown on my chest....

Got a little more written (longhand) on the Jericho WIP. Of all the stalled stuff I have in the works, I don't know why that one seems to be getting the most attention. It's two obscure characters and an OFC in an adventure set after the chronology of a dead cult series. Although it's one of those rare things where I could theoretically change the names and have it stand alone with the premise of a post-apocalyptic western.

It's the middle of the night and still 84F. And another six weeks before I/we can expect any substantial relief. Guh, Florida.

I took a closer look at the pink tag of doom that was hanging on my door. In fact, they have NOT turned off the water (as I discovered when I flushed), but they are threatening to do so if not paid on or before Thursday. (WTF is it about Thursday?! It's the day before payday, AND it's the pay-or-die date for the water bill and FPL.)

I'm home again---I still have stuff at Kat's to retrieve, but I have a major case of There's No Place Like Home going on. I don't care if it's hot here, I don't care if it's a mess. It's QUIET. No one is thundering around on wood floors early in the morning, there are no strange noises, no cats, I'm not confined to a mattress that's four inches thick and slightly narrower than my ass, and my computer does what I fucking tell it to do, albeit slowly.

Depending on which counter you trust more, my Jericho WIP is up to 4500 or 4800 words. And it's been enlightening: I knew about Melanie's backstory when I started---she's my OFC, after all---but this afternoon, Jonah Prowse dropped a dime talking to Bill. I had no idea!

There's nothing sweeter in the process of writing than the moment when your characters start telling you things about themselves that you didn't know when you started the story.

Oh, and btw---the begonias are thriving!

Yesteday, in addition to throwing myself onto the altar of fan-fic, I had a pleasant lunch with Kat at Olive Garden, where I engaged in flirtation with an adorable young waiter who had enough charm to be a Winchester. Left him a stonking huge tip AND sang his praises to the manager. (There's no such thing as too much positive reenforcement, is there?)

Afterward, we went over to Fashion Bug---my first non-Wal*Mart/Goodwill/eBay clothes shopping experience in at least six months!---where I cruised the clearance racks and scored big. Eventual haul was a plum top (the kind with a fitted bust), two skirts with rippling hems (one dark charcoal gray, one black), and the one that really made me gloat---some brown pseudo-corduroy leggings. I have enough earthtones in my wardrobe that those are going to be priceless! All for a very reasonable $32, including tax.

Came home and while prowling around trying to find out if it's been renewed (still up in the air!), found out that eps of Jericho can be accessed online at cbs.com. Promptly remedied a couple gaps in my timeline---I hadn't seen "Vox Populi", and needed to---and will probably catch more of it tomorrow...not to mention hitting CW for some of the SPN I missed due to timers and whatnot.

It doesn't take much to make me happy...this week, Jericho is at #1 so far. )

So yeah, I'm smiling and licking my chops....
________

** Not quite "Bonnie and Clyde", but close!

Much gnashing of teeth---I *thought* I set the damned timer for Jericho this evening, but *something* went wrong. It was blinking at me and ejected the tape unrecorded when I turned it on. I caught the first 15 minutes or so at work, and thought, oh good, this looks interesting---I can come home and find out what happens next.

No.

Of course not.

That would be too fucking EASY. Today was a total bear, and I'm ready to hibernate.

Spoil me, people, I beg you! They can't release that (or season two of SPN) on DVD soon enough for me.

Smoochies!

Sometimes, I'm just...blonde. Realization of this particular pheomenlanin-limited episode kicked in at 1:30 AM, after I logged off and went to go watch last night's ep of Jericho, which I *thought* I'd taped.

Uh, no. Set the timer just fine, 7:59 til 9:02, allowing for possible chronological inaccuracies...the only problem is, I set it for channel 8 (Supernatural) rather than channel 6. I ended up recording some stupid reality show that I don't give a fat fuck about. How exasperating!
