June, Revisited
On a distant June day, a beautiful young woman in a white wedding dress walked down the aisle of the church, tears of joy on her face as she approached her husband-to-be. "Til Death do us part" is a meaningless vow, because he survived a terrible war in a far-away land. They're both young, and they will live forever.
On this June day, a war all too near has taken her husband. Flanked between his somber sons, she stands in the churchyard beside the mound of turned earth. Weeping, ravaged by grief, Gail Green wears a black dress.
