Church today was fun---our aspiring minister (henceforth AM) presented music associated with winter festivals of different faiths. (Several of which I'd never heard of.) She was wearing a *very* familiair-looking top---apparently most of the stuff in last week's box worked, hurray!

I had on my faux-wrap leopard print dress with a wide black belt. It's one of those decorative belts that has a hole pattern all the way around, so in theory you can take it in indefinitely. You can tell I've had it for a while, because at this point, I have about ten inches coming out on the far side of the buckle. Thankfully, the dress has a ways to go before it can be considered "too big", which is good, because I really like it.

From there I went to Publix to check my e-mail and update my apps, which has become a Sunday ritual. Went to Aldi afterward and used a GC to stock up on a few things food stamps won't buy, plus some treats for New Years. The thing about their gift certs is, you have to spend them all at once, so I was judicious in balancing needs and wants with the eventual total. It came to $25.23, so once I got the deposit back on my cart, I about broke even. Now I have light bulbs and paper plates and frozen pizza and cheese and cashews and have some nommies to look forward to tomorrow. (Hell no, I'm not going anywhere. Even if I did voluntarily drive after dark, I sure as hell wouldn't do it when all the idjits are out and about.)

My paid LJ account and icons are fixing to expire next month. Le sigh! That's so far down the priority list---! Somewhere between my next tank of gas and getting the backyard mowed....

The high point of my day was shopping with [livejournal.com profile] missybrat. We checked out Aldi's (new grocery chain in town), although I only spent a few dollars---I got some water, a box of crackers, a can of beans, a couple burritos, limes and a bag of gummi colas for under $5. I'll probably go back for more extensive shopping when I have more cash, since they were offering some pretty choice deals on spiral-cut hams (although, come to think of it, maybe I should clean my kitchen enough that I could actually COOK in it first).

After checking out, we wandered across the street to the M.I. Goodwill, where I exercised won't-power and did not get any new clothes. Neither did Mb, who has lost about 25 pounds, go her! I'm really happy for her. She seems much healthier than she used to be; back in the day, when we worked in Medical Billing Hell together, she was sick constantly, but these days, she's downright perky.

Mb says my hair color looks natural and I'm being silly. (I'm just used to a more golden blonde, but---whatever.) She's growing hers out, which makes me happy, because she has the prettiest curls and for a while there, her har was so short, you couldn't tell. I need a trim---I swear, mine has grown two inches since The Cut in July---but that's not in the budget any time soon.

The early Christmas present was a success---I found her a Thomas Kinkade wall hanging with a picture of a lighthouse and a Bible verse---I got hugs for that, which made me happy.

And tomorrow, Kat and I are hitting the Chinese buffet for lunch, which I'm looking forward to. I haven't had Chinese in a while, and China Garden does a yummy chicken and onions, not to mention the pork and 'shrooms or sauteed green beans.

Note to self: Pick up bathroom tissue while you're out.
