vanillafluffy: (Yay ME!)
Welcome to Vanillafluffy's First Annual (maybe) Cheer-Up-athon!

Scanning my f'list, it seems like most of us are going through some kind of agita and/or angst. Families, relationships, jobs or lackthereof---it's always something.

As a wise man once said, "I get by with a little help from my friends." I'm inviting my friends (and their friends, and anyone with something constructive to contribute) to particate in this Cheer-Up-athon.

I'm not asking for money, just good mojo. (As long as it isn't that whole "Well, it could be worse, you could be sleeping in a box" schtick, because really, that doesn't work.)

Let's have your compliments, well-wishes, inspirational quotes, suggestions of activities to brighten someone's day---preferably low-or-no-cost, since times ARE tough. Also welcome are Gifs, icons, picspams and fanvids, macros, happy ending comment fics, recipes for your favorite comfort food and good news in general.

This is going to be an on-going event. After a few days as is, I'll change the date so that this post stays at the top of my page and you can keep adding to it. Post as often as you like, and feel free to pimp.

Keep it positive and upbeat, be kind to each other and play nice, y'all.

I busted my ass yesterday working on my living room, and my ass is feeling it today. It was totally worth it, though, when I walked out there this morning and saw my cozy living room.

Pictures and commentary )
Meanwhile, come out and support the Cheer-Up-athon! There are a lot of day-brighteners up there. The lovely and sympatico [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal gifted me with a gem of a drabble for Black Sheep Squadron, and upbeat contributions are always welcome! Feel free to pimp, too.

First, I fixed my shower curtain. It's been sagging for quite a while, so I mended the torn holes with duct tape and took a nice leisurely shower and washed my hair.

[livejournal.com profile] karaokegal posted a vid of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers at the Cheer-Up-athon, and I adore Ginger's dress! That led me to seek out the closest thing in my wardrobe, my polka-dot A-line dress. (Which I don't have a picture of.) It's not as fluttery as Ginger's dress, but fits well and I'm fond of it.

I'd heard the mail truck come around the corner a while ago, so I went out to see if anything intersting had come, and lo and behold! There on my doorstep was a box from GK! I eagerly dug into it, as her CARE packages are always a treat.

Tops: three. A demure little short-sleeved striped blouse. YES with my black trumpet skirt. A mustard-gold 3/4-sleeve top with black and metallic gold embellishment at the neckline. Yes, with black or brown pants. And a 3/4-sleeve print top...it's an all-over print on a black background, sort of abstract Asian designs. I love it the bestest, because it will go with EVERYTHING (except maybe summer).

A LBD! GK has been tantalizing me with the promise of this dress for months---apparently she acquired it just after she sent off my Christmas box---and it was worth the wait! It's by Merona (Target fashion brand), sleeveless, microfiber chiffon, a pseudo-wrap with a double ruffle, and the length is perfect, just a smidge below the knee.

There was also a baggie of assorted bits of jewelery for crafting, nothing astonishing, but I'm sure at least some of it will get repurposed.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty---!
