Since I've had a couple people ask what I need with regard to upgrading my 'puter for work, here are the parameters I was given---

Must have:

Window XP SP2 -- Have it, no upgrade required, all is well

MS Office 2000/2003 -- Have a line on it, should be a-okay

512 MB DDR/DDRW, NOT SDR -- I have no idea. Looked around in 'Properties' and am none the wiser

40 GB hard drive -- No. It's 37 GB, only about 26 GB available

As it stands, it considers itself an Intell pentium III processor, with 489 MHz and 640 MB of RAM. It's in a Dell case the size of a pair of cinderblocks, and was Frankensteined for me about two years ago. I've been drooling over refurbished laptops, but not holding my breath. (And what the hell is the difference between a laptop and a notebook, anyway?)

Any questions? I'll do my quasi-technical best to answer.
