vanillafluffy: (Success failure)
Yesterday being the last day of the month (and a full week til payday!) I was stressed about paying my insurance---car and homeowners---because in the first case, it's Florida AND it's hurricane season, and most insurance companies will look for excuses to drop your coverage, and in the case of auto, I've got a helluva commute, I don't dare let that lapse, either.

A long, long time ago, say 5-6 years, H.W.S.N.B.N. picked up two BIG sheets of copper with the stated intent of making me a pair of end tables...which never happened. Fast forward to Wednesday, when I found out from BC that the current price for copper hereabouts is $2.90 per pound. I lugged them in and weighed them on my doctor's office quality balance scale, and wahoo, 41 pounds!

Took them up to the recycler and got enough to cover both payments when added to what I already had in the bank. (I have about $3 left in my account, but my gas tank is at 3/4 full, I have a well-stocked pantry, and the status is fairly quo.)

And now, it's off to work I go---!

I've taken a bold step---I swapped my Sunday off (yes, tomorrow!) for someone's Saturday off so that next week, I'll have three days off in a row while GK is here, giving us more flexability for the Great Closet Purge of 2008.

I also spent a chunk of today cleaning my room to be able to GET AT the closet. I'm hoping I can inveigle BC to remove that damned dead TV---I'm convinced that "Toshiba" is Japanese for "useless piece of shit". It refuses to tune properly, with or without the cable box, so away with it!

Speaking of BC, he blessed me with some lovely thick copper wire, I think it's from house wiring or the like, 12 gauge? 14? Whatever it is, I peeled a couple of the shorter lengths and made myself some copper bracelets. There are a few longer pieces that ought to be necklace length. Delightful prospect!

Away with me, to bed!
