Because I clicked on a link over at [livejournal.com profile] fatshionista a little while ago out of curiosity, I ended up falling in love with the darlingest little jacket---shown below. And the fact that it was ONLY available in my size was like a flashing sign saying It Was Meant to Be. I love the cut, the tweedy little herringbone fabric---close up, it has little gold threads---shiny!---it fits in with my recent obsession with brown rather than black---and it was discounted to the point that it was only $32.50 including shipping. (Yes, I'm rationalizing, but my bills are paid and I'm employed. And I need to look nice for work....**)

The way I see it, if I wear it with a solid color underneath, it'll elongate my shape, because it's so short---on the site, in pix where it's being worn, it comes to the midriff/slightly below the bust---thereby giving me the irresistable style of a golden-blonde Scandinavian super model. Go me!

** That last was something of a joke. Short of walking in there in a thong, or my nightgown, I'm not sure anyone would notice what I wore, if some of the things I've seen other people walking around in is anything to go by.

I know that technically, there is a difference between need and want. And that while I may need a winter coat, I don't absolutely require a pair of boots to go with it. (That's assuming that my bid on a certain brown leather carcoat is accepted.) When I was just running back and forth across town to work, a winter coat wasn't a necessity. But driving 20+ miles each way? Um, yes, I think I *do* need a coat.

I might make a case for the boots as a mental health necessity, and cite in addition the fact that my black suede boots hurt my feet after a couple of hours because they're medium, not wide. I'm lusting after these (from The Avenue):

** to go with this carcoat I'm eyeing on eBay:

I've got a lot of autumnal and earthtones in my wardrobe; I'm getting away from black. I've been wearing black constantly for the last twenty years, and I've reached the point where *anything* can be the new black, as long as it's not black!

==========

** Have found a very similar pair on eBay for about a third the retail price of the ones pictured. And they're real leather instead of faux. *whimper!* Leather kink much? Me?!
