Mb collected me at oh-dark-thirty last Monday morning. We went to the food bank (and were out by 8:45, so you KNOW we got there early!). From there, we went back to her place, where I stayed until Saturday afternoon.

I'm greeter at church in a few hours, so I won't be up very much longer, but I wanted to catch you all up a little.

For instance, when I checked my mailbox, there was a package from [livejournal.com profile] dine, with an excellent vintage tablecloth. Incentive to unfuck the dining table, I hope.... Thanks, hon!

I spent some of BigRed's GC from WalMart...got a new hairbrush and some hair tint. The dark blonde tint is absurdly subtle, but it covers my grey and is less washed-out looking than my natural color, so it was worth the $3.

TV chatter, cut for the spoiler-phobic: )

I still haven't got the new microwave squared away. It's on my to-do list. Haven't talked to J since the great canasta-meatloaf debacle. Need to find the sticker for my tag and stick it on, lest I get in trouble.

Okay, I need to get my ass to bed....

As ganked from [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal.

How about headcanons? Reply with a name, along with a topic, or word and I'll tell you my head-canon for it.

List of fandoms I've written for at one time or another is on my profile page, and interests may also suggest topics. Please bear in mind, some fandoms may have fallen by the wayside and I'm not necessarily current with them (I stopped watching House MD, for instance, during the Tritter arc).

I just got in from church, after not going for three weeks in a row---it's been YEARS since that last happened---and it was very nice.

When she was down last spring, GK gave me a sleeveless solid black dress, microfiber/chiffon. I hadn't worn it, thinking it was a bit dressy for church: I had to pin up the neckline, for one thing! but finally bit the bullet, otherwise I'd never have worn it before I outgrew it. It would benefit from a little taking in, but I thought it looked nice with a blue shrug and blue shoes for a color-block effect.

We had a guest speaker, the Reverend Ann Fuller, who is an actual Unitarian Universalist minister, as opposed to our usual Speaker Potluck. Her talk was "Antidote for Idolatry", defining "idolatry" as anything that comes between us and God, the Universe and Everything.

There was definitely food for thought there. By that definition, I suppose my clutter could be considered idolatry. Or my wardrobe---and I really have to go through that again; I *know* a lot of it---especially tops---is too big for me.

She also referenced "Whitethorn Woods", a novel by Maeve Binchy, which I own but haven't actually read yet. I'll be rectifying that soon, as I know where it is. It was nice to have someone to author-squee with! I recommended "Scarlett Feather" as my favorite of Binchy's---she's never read it, and I hope she does so we can squee some more next time she comes.

Sadly, we're going to be losing the Happy family. RHappy has gotten a job offer in Tampa that pays $20K a year better than what he's doing here, so they'll be departing soon. It's good that they have such a teriffic opportunity, but they were the young blood of the congregation, and it'll be hard to see them go.

I went to WalMart afterward, as is my wont. Got several packs of bug foggers (almost typed "bug floggers"---yikes!); I figure I'll bomb the whole house, give it a week to allow for any potential hatchings, then bomb it again. KILL ALL THE (evil) SPIDERS!!!

And maybe do some more laundry. I got a load done last week, so I've got basics, but I need to do bedding and towels and darks, so---laundry ahoy!

Was in bed with the lights out by midnight. Took a little while to actually fall asleep, but wasn't lying awake staring at theceiling for hours, either. Woke around 4:30 (bladder), took a while to get back to sleep again, but I did, and slept til 8:59.

Had some very odd dreams. The oddest was something based off Criminal Minds, where the unsub was going around throwing acid on people who did things like littler, spit on the sidewalk, not clean up after their dogs, etc. He was in an Art Deco building, and starting to spiral out of control and caused a panic.

Meanwhile, the BAU was on a case where the only way to draw the killer out was for Reid to get onstage at some kind of fair, and do a magic act. He was selecting a variety of silk flowers that had psychological implications, and turned down a hideous pre-made bouquet offered by the brother-in-law of the carnival owner, which was going to offend him and cause a crisis, because he was the one they were looking for.

And now I have to get my ass in gear and get out of here.

Gods help me, they had a Kindred: The Embraced marathon on SciFi channel today, and I got sucked in to that. Way too many pretties, and a few "OMG, that's!---".... Now, if they'd just rerun American Gothic, I'd be a really happy camper.

Criminal Minds was awesome tonight! )

I haven't written anything, I've done some picking up, although no lie, those bags are HUGE.

Tomorrow is the season finale for SPN---I'm torn between fear and anticipation. Either way, I have an idea of what I'm going to work on as a SPN summer project, IF I do anything.

There's no Harper's Island this weekend, and I'm really snarked by how poorly CBS is promoting it. I keep reviewing the suspects according to means, motive and opportunity, although any time "a deranged killer" is being floated as a suspect, logic tends to be a longshot.

I'm driving on the donut, so I'm anticipating payday on Friday almost as much as SPN. Plus, I've GOT to get a fan for my room---the window A/C is blowing air, but the compressor is ded, and it's been roasting. Oh god, and it's only MAY!

Tomorrow, there will be Executroids. I have to be there two hours early...I will be getting out early, though---as soon as I got a look at my schedule, I tweaked it with PTO so I'll be off at 9PM, can romp into the break room for SPN and head home afterward. Heh heh.

Today I coughed up $10 and got a digital conversion box---I'd gotten the coupon, but just one, because I'm not THAT acquisitive---just in case of digital outage. I'm curious to see how many channels I'll get with it, given that I get something like a half-dozen now with rabbit ears.

Yesterday, I was really miffed to get home and realize that for some reason, my freakin' Tivo did NOT record Nip/Tuck for me. I checked IMDb, it's supposed to be on again Friday and Saturday. Thank goodness, because I caught enough of it at work to want to see it again. In extreme slow-mo. While having evil thoughts about flexible men with great big

EARS.

I'm sorry, where was I?!

It's a good thing I'm not doing fanfic these days---I had an absolutely cracktastic idea for a crossover about Sylar's cousin Jake, who has visions...instead of all that hoo-ha with The Pathway, Jake's being set up by The Company. Something like that. If you want to write it, you're welcome to, just give me credit for the idea and give me a heads-up so I can read it.

Criminal Minds was okay tonight, but my god, Michael Biehn is looking past his prime, and if I hadn't read the credits, I would never have recognized Randy Mantooth! It's nice to see he and Kevin Tighe are still getting work though---the latter shows up in My Bloody Valentine 3D. Next week, CM looks like heavy-duty Rossi---I'm eager to see that!

The weather has been gorgeous: Clear and a bit on the chilly side, very low humidity, hardly a cloud to be seen, yay, fall? Winter? In Florida, it tends to overlap. Either way, it's been a treat.

Paid FPL on Monday, which pretty much swallowed last week's check whole, like an anaconda. Okay, about 40% of it. Thankfully, low gas prices mean I've been able to afford to eat.

[livejournal.com profile] ang5fam, I took Kat and G'ma to La Bamba for lunch on Wednesday, and they both loved it! The service was excellent, the food plentiful, and it's nice to have another lunch option, since the three places we usually patronize (Kay's Place, Fabulous 50s and China Garden) get a little old after a while.

Awesome week for TV: I'm not going to spoiler anything, I'm just gonna say Criminal Minds made me want to have Rossi's babies, heart, heart, squee, and Supernatural---! OMG, brain broke! No more new SPN eps til January?! Argh! I'm going to look on the bright side, though---at least this way, everybody who writes canon Christmas fic will have a little while before it's Kripke'd.

Work is gearing up for the holidays, as I've mentioned. Mandatory overtime will be kicking in soon, and I have the option of adding two hours to my shift or sacrificing a day off. I'm thinking of working Sundays---that way I'll have Mondays to recover. And it's only for two weeks. Money. Money is good....

Today, BC came over and removed the Toshiba PoS TV that's been taking up space in my room. I'm down to a 9" portable that [livejournal.com profile] sbjb gave me about 15 years ago, which gives me a lot more clearance at the foot of my bed. Yes, I know: It's crappy feng shui. Oh well.

Sorted a few books---I need to do another purge---watched about 4 hours of NCIS, which I've recently gotten into. Nobody ever mentioned it's got Michael Weatherly in it. Or David McCallum. Or Lauren Holly. No, all I ever heard was Mark Harmon, and I've never been a fan of his. But I've adored her ever since Picket Fences, and MW since Dark Angel, and David McCallum FOREVER. Ilya Kuryakin, yum!

Criminal Minds tonight was all kinds of cool. They're setting up some wicked awesome backstory for one of my favorite characters...I've only dabbled in writing that particular fandom, but with enough provocation, I might write more!

I've been in a mellow frame of mind in the wake of yesterday. There is just *one* thing that I've discovered that disconcerts me: our President-elect is YOUNGER THAN I AM. Less than a year, but still. Do not be surprised if, in the future, I make jokes about "that young fellow in the White House".

Yesterday before I left to take the car to the garage AGAIN, I posted another 4.1 fic, because I knew coming home to a stack of comments would make me feel better, and it did. (Feel free to comment! Comment early, comment often!)

GarageGuy tinkered with the beast for about 40 minutes, said short of tearing it down and cleaning the fuel system (+$100), it was the best he could do. (No charge.) It's not fixed, it's still trying to cut out and I'm having to park it on the flat rather than in the driveway, but it's chugging along, and I know how to pop the clutch when it stalls out.

Today, I got GK's tape mailed---priority, so she should have it on Friday, and with tracking, because I'm a professional, and I know that shipping without tracking is a total crap-shoot.

Went rummaging in my trunk for something, and came across TWO unopened 2-liter bottles of diet cola. Caffeinated. Am hanging onto them for medicinal purposes.

Was annoyed by the impromtu economics lesson that delayed the Criminal Minds season premiere, but amused myself with thoughts of cleaning up The Prez's unibrow. Duct tape, anyone? (Plus? Looking at the doorway behind him, I kept wishing I had the software to do a manip and insert that bit from Risky Business so Tom Cruise would go sliding past in one ear and out the other.)

Oh, and the new Knight Rider is gonna be fun. KITT's a Cobra Mustang? Hell yes, fuck me now! It's hot!

I have mowing scheduled for tomorrow. Not the GFS---someone I know through church who speaks English. Now maybe I'll get those blasted hanging branches trimmed. At the very least, I won't have to worry about getting persecuted by code enforcement in the near future. At this time of year, I figure one, maybe two mowings and I can leave it alone til spring.

I need to take a dish in for potluck at work on Friday. I'm thinking bean and corn salad. (It's fast, and I have everything on hand.) That's one day I won't have to worry about packing lunch!

Title: The Wives of David Rossi 3/3
Authored by: [livejournal.com profile] vanillafluffy
Pairing: Rossi/OFCs
Rating/Work-safeness: PG, work safe
Approximate word count: 470
Disclaimer: David Rossi is his own man.
Betaed by: Red
Summary: In last week's discussion between Hotch and Rossi, Rossi said they had a total of four failed marriages between them. As far as I know, Hotch has never mentioned a previous marriage, so I've concluded that Rossi is the one who's really racked up a score. Here's my take on the subject.

Somehow, Wednesday evening has become my night for TV. No more Jericho, *puppy dog eyes, pout, trembling lower lip* but there's still Criminal Minds, which I DO love, followed by a block of the Style channel. I don't like Clean House as much as I did Clean Sweep, but Dress My Nest improves on Queer Eye in several ways. (Namely, I had a 'thing' for Eric on Clean Sweep, their sort-and-sell team wasn't as brutal as these guys, and CH sounds blatantly like product placement at times.)

With DMN vs. QE, for one thing, so far, they seem to be decorating for chicks. Which makes sense, because at the risk of stereotyping, most straight guys HAVE no style, and most gay guys have enough style not to need decorators. There's none of the tedious "now we're going to show you how to dress and what to cook". Nope! It's all "We're gonna make your place look as fabulous as you do, so just run along to this posh hotel for a couple days, and when you get back, it'll be all new loot!"

Since DMN bases it on what you give them, you have to think about what it is that you like about those pieces and how they might translate to a room. It's certainly made me think about how I might inspire a room through what I wear...except that in my case, I don't have a decorator to ride to my rescue with pots of money and free furniture. Using what I've already got in creative ways---well, my inspiration outfit would *definitely* include my pop cap belt---very playful and colorful and made from recycled materials (by www.littlearth.com).
