I didn't get anything written on Monday, but emptying the sink, flinging science projects (and scrubing those dishes) plus getting two big black bags of trash to the curb somewhat offsets that.

I didn't cook anything, either*, but I consumed one of last night's frozen dinners this evening and was not displeased.

Gods help me, they had a Kindred: The Embraced marathon on SciFi channel today, and I got sucked in to that. Way too many pretties, and a few "OMG, that's!---".... Now, if they'd just rerun American Gothic, I'd be a really happy camper.

ExpandCriminal Minds was awesome tonight! )

I haven't written anything, I've done some picking up, although no lie, those bags are HUGE.

Tomorrow is the season finale for SPN---I'm torn between fear and anticipation. Either way, I have an idea of what I'm going to work on as a SPN summer project, IF I do anything.

There's no Harper's Island this weekend, and I'm really snarked by how poorly CBS is promoting it. I keep reviewing the suspects according to means, motive and opportunity, although any time "a deranged killer" is being floated as a suspect, logic tends to be a longshot.

I'm driving on the donut, so I'm anticipating payday on Friday almost as much as SPN. Plus, I've GOT to get a fan for my room---the window A/C is blowing air, but the compressor is ded, and it's been roasting. Oh god, and it's only MAY!

Sat through a couple eps of The Burning Zone this evening as a palliative for the teeth (my lower left jaw is all kinds of unhappy). Figured squeeing might contribute a few useful endorphins to the cause.

In the first one I watched, a group called the Gethsemane Project was dispatching death row inmates with pseudo-lethal injections so they could bring back messages from "The Other Side". The Other Side was actually a Hellmouth and the resurrected inmates were possessed. (The deja vu was beyond ironic!) Marcase ended up temporarily dead, thereby giving JDM a perfect score, as far as I can tell.

The second ep was the one with Nicholas Lea as the leader of a healing cult who communed with serpents---eeevil, naturally.

When I originally watched TBZ at the time it first aired, I thought of it as an X-Files/Outbreak hybrid---disease of the week meets monster of the week. Having seen a half-dozen eps within the last couple of weeks, I'm noticing religious undertones that I was oblivious to the first time. Not surprising, given that executive producer Coleman Luck was also a coproducer on Six: the Mark Unleashed---quite possibly the ONLY entry in the genre "Christian Action movies". (Trust me, the ONLY reason to watch it is large doses of JDM, including a few tasty torture sequences. Yes, I am a twisted sister!) However, aside from the dated cheesiness of some of the f/x, Burning Zone works as entertainment.

Now if only they'd release it on DVD.

This afternoon, the weather looked to be turning evil, so I hustled out the door about a half-hour earlier than usual in hopes of beating it to Melbourne. Which I did. In my haste to be gone, oopsie, I left the TV AND the A/C on in my bedroom.

When I walked it some 10.5 hours later and discovered this, I thought, "What the hell..." and flipped to see what was on the Sleuth Channel.

To my immense glee, it was Burning Zone---20 minutes in, but still! Forty minutes of JDM is not to be scorned. I want to kiss whoever did wardrobe for that show, because damn, they skillfully enhanced his natural hawtness. In this ep, it was mostly showcased in khaki pants and a white wife-beater under an open maroon/garnet/dark red shirt. (Be still my heart!) At the end, they put him in very light blue straight-legged jeans and an orangey-coral colored shirt. Tasty!

That was the high point of my day, because clearly the full moon is in effect. Everybody today had ISSUES, for fuck's sake. People, if you're going to call a company---ANY COMPANY---demanding to speak to a supervisor, DON'T do it late in the evening. Try, say, NORMAL business hours, like before 6 PM. Is that so much to ask? Just because we're there to take your order does NOT mean that *other* departments are! My handle time was totally for shit.

Okay, I've vented and squeed, I'm off to bed now....

Back to school rocks.

Never mind Christmas---too many people taking an arbitrary date WAY too seriously---back to school is excellent. Trendicrap is doing a brisk business in uniform pants and polos, as well as new jeans and tees. There were a few lackluster orders (two shirts OR a pair of jeans) but mostly it was badda-boom, I'll have two of those in khaki and two in navy and four white and a this and a that---my numbers are going to be fandamntastic next week.

That? Is why second shift is the sweet spot. Day shift doesn't get that kind of traffic---at least, I never have---but weekends? They shop, my friends. They shop good.

And at 4 AM on the Sleuth Channel (154 on my cable box), I get to enjoy some baby-faced JDM in The Burning Zone. Hell, yes, I'll stay up til 5 AM for that! (Or set an alarm and take a nap...either way, I shall spend a predawn hour squeeing happily at the glory that is Jeff. Rrrrow!)

Life is good!

Had a couple hours of pure bliss this afternoon...was surfing some of the higher channels that my cable company provides (but you have to go hunting for them). Imagine my joy to find an episode of Burning Zone, albeit already in progress**. JDM young, clean-cut/shaven, jeans, tee shirt (and some plaid flannel, GOD, that makes me happy!).... Dr Eddie Marcase getting whupped on by some schmuck with a cane---gets away, limping---oh, those, long, lean legs!---just avoiding getting run over by an old truck with duh-duh-duh: red headlights. (Cue ominous music and cut to commercials).

As if 30 minutes of Jeff's eyelashes wasn't enough of a treat, I noticed that BBC America was showing MI-5 following that, and lo and behold---it was The Rosebed Memoirs, so I got to squee over Jools after squeeing over Marcase. Life is good!

This story was written for the fiction costume party at [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal's. It may be cross-posted elsewhere. Gen, no pairings, PG-13ish. Super-duper beta by [livejournal.com profile] mojavedragonfly---any mistakes are my own blonde fault.

Crack-smoking crossover with willful violation of multiple canons ahead. Okay, maybe not outright violation, maybe just a little gratuitous molestation. All recognizable characters contained herein are the property of various individuals and corporations, none of whom are me, and none of which I represent in any way, shape or form. (I don't own House MD, Supernatural or The Burning Zone.)

I know I've have chats with at least one member of my f'list about Rutger Hauer. As usual, I can't remember with whom. Anyway, here's a link to an article about a documentary on You-Know-Who....

Oh, and SOMEHOW, I've got to find a way to make copies of those BZ tapes before they erode. Preferably in some media that allows me to screen cap. My God, the eyelashes that man has! (I know, that is quite possibly the silliest, fangirliest thing I've ever said.... *blushes*)

Can you guess Mother Nature has got her claws into me but good?!
